Newspaper coverage of CC Final

Recommended Posts

I read the Times - there is no mention or build up to tomorrows game - taking into account the Times doesn't cover RL hardly, but is this due to no pre match 'stories' being put out by clubs or RL or pure bias? What's the situation in other papers?

It's a bit of column A and a bit of column B.

This weekend we're competing with a full round of Premier League football and The Ashes test at Headingley for back-page coverage. I don't think you can argue a media bias that RL isn't earning column inches against those.

That said, we need to make it easy for journalists to talk about RL - particuarly when there are fewer RL journalists around. Both Warrington and St Helens have PR and media managers - the question to be asked is how many stories were they pushing to the media, how easy were they making it for journalists to access the players, etc?

And just as I type that, I read that Warrington have banned the media from their "open" training session.

IMO the best papers for Rugby League are the Daily Mirror and The Star and are both good for crosswords as well

Agree in the mirror - there is a copy where i work every day, nearly always a page of league every day ?

PROUD TO BE A MEMBER OF http://www.rugbyleaguecares.org/ and http://www.walesrugbyleague.co.uk/article/8790/join-team-wales-for-2013

Predictions for the future -

Crusaders RL to get a franchise for 2012 onwards -WRONG

Widnes Vikings also to get a franchise - RIGHT

Crusaders RL to do the double over Widnes and finish five places ahead of them -WRONG

Widnes Vikings NOT to dominate rugby league in years to come! STILL TO COME

I promise to pay 10 to the charity of Bomb Jacks choice if Widnes Millionaires finish above the battling underdogs Crusaders RL. I OWE A TENNER!

And the i. It took a dip when Dave Hadfield "left" but has come back strongly this year.

Decent coverage of the CC build up

Unfortunately, that was just online and not in print

Wrong, northernmouse.

My paper edition of the Times yesterday had the Chris Irvine piece centred on his interview with James Roby; I read it over breakfast yesterday.  Being in Wiltshire, I no doubt get a southern edition, if, indeed, there is such variation.  I would be very surprised if any separate northern edition did not carry that piece too.

Today's Sunday Times has a full match report, also by Irvine.

Weird, Definitely not in my paper - perhaps there is an early edition for the North - often results for evening games do not appear. I do remember getting papers before midnight in London and these were different editions to later ones
