It's a shame Manchester Liners aren't still around. Operating from Salford docks, they used to have particularly strong connections with Canada; I think, in the later period, there were three ships a week to various ports in Canada. Destinations included direct links to Toronto, and there were Manchester terminals on the Canadian side. Size-wise it would certainly make a better home for a League 1 rugby team, but I have no idea if that's at all feasible. Just some idle speculation. From a TV and photographic perspective, 10000 full is a lot better that 20000 with 10k in it. Whether it is feasibly, as you say, is another matter. It seems an import quota of five has been agreed with the NRL, which then places no limit on players from the US, UK, Jamaica etc. Of particular note, players out of the 30 man squad not required to play/travel will be sent to play in the USARL competition. The quota rules will presumably need to change soon - the post-brexit UK will no longer need to worry about the Kolpak rules, for example, but there'll be a stack of new paperwork around visas etc. as players and coaches won't be able to just get on a plane and go and work in France. I have been forecasting this time for a long time. The days of the has been's and never was players coming over here from the NRL will soon be coming to an end as most will not meet the criteria for British employment law as the clubs (employers) will have to show that they have given British players (British workers) the chance of employment before recruiting from overseas. Of course this will affect Soccer more than TGG, but have no fear it will affect Rugby League clubs, and they why have have kept banging the drum about junior development for some time. So many athletic 18 year olds don't make it to college, that's who they should be looking at imo, not 25 year old NFL failures or union converts.
