That's very kind of you.

I would like to have an occasional contributor who could specialise in the business of Rugby League, as opposed to what happens on the pitch. I'm sure I once raised the matter with you.

You and I seem to have a difference of opinion on many things, but I would welcome your financial acuity.

I think Oliver would like to contribute also Martyn.

Depends what the club is looking at from its kit deal, but it looks like they've been looking to effectively outsource the retail side and to that end, ISC have the capability for that.

I sometimes hear questions like "why doesn't a club attract Nike / Adidas etc?" but I don't think Leeds or any RL club have the pull for those sorts of players.

Leeds probably sell in the region of 25,000 shirts a year (as a complete guesstimate). That's not going to appeal to one of the big sportswear brands without offering some sort of international exposure in lieu.

Short of opening a Rhinos megastore in Dubai and Singapore, RL wouldn't appeal to those sorts of brands.

Yeah I know what you're saying, but even like Canterbury for example. Irish provincial and English club teams get adidas and Canterbury and I doubt all of those have as big if not a bigger reach than a club like Leeds. Even YCCC are supplied by PUMA.

I just find the length of the deal a surprise.

perhaps while there doing it they could be more up to date than June 2019 as of course the CVA was settled and the union mob have signed a whole host of players and will be taking part in there comp whatever division it is .

Here's a summary I made last year of the Big 4's 2017 results - interesting to see who's had better and worse years.

Those turnover figures are truly appalling for clubs that size. No wonder Catalans have the second highest turnover in SL. They don't have much to beat.

It would ge interesting to see if that has been repeated in any other accounts and what that shows as in the SL accounts.

I can't imagine what SL owns to sell to the club and wonder if its something the clubs have bought through SL

Have they bought Odsal?

A lot of sportswear brands are being more particular about who they partner with and endorse. A few, Nike in particular, have had a few endorsements (cough) "backfire" (cough) in recent years and when you look at the work they're doing with people like Colin Kapernick and Serena Williams, you can see the direction and image that they're going for. Even our most marketable clubs / talent doesn't really fit with that.

Thinking about Adidas, supplying Leinster and Munster does get them pan-European exposure with the Heineken Cup for probably very little outlay. At the risk of starting another expansion quarrell, RL doesn't have that proposition to offer.

The Yorkshire CCC arangement isn't one with Puma but with Genesis Sports - its the same sort of arrangement that sees Farsley Celtic wearing Nike shirts.

Thanks, I didn't know that about YCCC.

Like I said I'm just wary that the club have signed up to such a long deal (especially having had them as manufacturer for so long beforehand). That's not a criticism of ISC or their gear at all.

Is there a suggestion that Leeds Rhinos are potentially facing financial trouble due to this?

Or is it just an investment project that has turned sour?

I’m not really familiar with the situation there.

I actually asked that question back in June/July when the Union sides issues were blowing up as to whether it would affect the Rhino's

Without anything else there is the loss of the rent they get for the use of the stadium surely and any economies of scale they got from sharing any suppliers. If they did those same suppliers are likely to not only be smarting at their own losses but wary of giving Rhinos decent deals in the future

Nothing in the Saints or Wire accounts published this month about payments to SLE.

Curious, isn’t it?

We used to share a lot of suppliers, kit etc, but ostensibly that has declined in recent times. No longer same kit deals much less space in the shop dedicated to Carnegie. Beyond that I can only see there being a crossover in terms of supplements perhaps?

They haven't just 'bought' from Super league Europe, they also made Sales of £113k (2017 - £nil) so there is money moving in both directions.

I agree, curious to understand what it is for.

Could they be buying and selling tickets ?, basically purchasing tickets up front then showing as an asset on books until they sell them when they turn back into cash

Lol, more than a bit unlikely I'd say, though I'm to understand that Caddick Construction is the firm Andrew Chalmers has an 'understanding' with over any new build for the Bulls.

Not that it's truly relevant to Leeds Rugby as Caddick are simply a construction firm with a rugby interest.

I would think as other have pointed out its to do with the world challenge and maybe they purchased the 2018 rights and the money going back was a proportional part of the profits .

I seem to remember that Leeds did virtually all there own promotion for the game including brining in additional sponsors so they would have wanted control of the event
