RayCee
It sounds unnecessary but the article suggests to fit in another Brisbane club, a club in Sydney (or Gold Coast) needs to go. if it's been covered elsewhere, my apologies. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=12263826 My blog: https://rugbyl.blogspot.co.nz/ It takes wisdom to know when a discussion has run its course. Sports Prophet
I fail to see how on the eve of the finals, Channel 9 needs to start a non existent story of relocations, or even worse still, why every other news broadcaster takes the bait and rehashes the same old story themselves. I can not comprehend how any coherent individual with the best interests of RL could consider axing or relocating a Sydney team outside the area could be a better idea than keeping them where they are. Graham
I doubt that it will come to pass. Sounds like somebody took a floated remark too seriously. Could it be that a journalist asked a pointed question and that the bloke replied like a sucker, giving the journo just what he wanted? I'm sure Ch 9 will now soften this in some way, or denounce it completely. The Australian Rugby League Forum
Clogiron
Having a Brisbane game in the friday night slot due to time zone differences works exceptionally well for Fox Sports & 9, by having two clubs in Brisbane they can fill it every week. Sydney has too many club's in it's environs, like all cities it's spreading outwards and the old club areas are losing population as office blocks and commercial properties replace old housing and as here club's become less relevant to that area. A Sydney comp and a non Sydney comp. Then some sort of finals comp? No. I much prefer a proper league system like we have with evolution rather than revolution. Now what he proposes would be a massive leap. Much better to stick with something that works. Having said that what do you reckon? More clubs, fewer clubs, conference system, current system? I'd like see to more clubs, but that doesn't have to involve a conference system anytime soon. My blog: https://rugbyl.blogspot.co.nz/ It takes wisdom to know when a discussion has run its course.
