Remember when Tony Banham (Doncaster)another Bl--dy Sunday on U Tube, was playing Sunday morning amateur rugby in Hull one of the opposing players made a remark about the colour of his skin +James Hunt.Tony didn't react but about three scrums later the player who called him was found lying face down in the mud.Tony was a pub and club bouncer in Hull so was not one to upset. He was a decent forward for Donny in short bursts and played 114 games for them.

I remember a Keighley stand off abusing Towns Jimmy pickering, who then pinned him down and spent what seemed like a minute pummelling him into the ground. When they dug him back out he had no idea where he was ha ha, was lovely to see.

A great guy.

Rugby Union the only game in the world were the spectators handle the ball more than the players.

He also had a pub in Chapeltown, Leeds. Now anybody who ran a pub in that area had to be a tough nut.I believe he also ran a pub in Bradford. Two nice places to be a pub landlord.

I had the pleasure of working in William Hills in Chapletown for a couple of weeks in the late sixties. What an education that was.A tough area.

Sent Off,

I remember the pub in Leeds Tony Banham ran. It was basically in Harehills, it was the FForde Green. I was working there in probably the late 70,s renovating the place for Tetleys. What a pub that was, if you did not have a broken nose you was out of place.I do not know how long Tony ran the pub but he seemed a really good and polite guy until any trouble started then you did not want to be on there. I believe it is now an Asian Supermarket. How times have changed.

Tomkins complained to the ref that a London player made a racist remark towards Masoe in the scrum.

Would be amazed if they found any evidence to support the claim.

I thought it was interesting that the ref asked him not to repeat it, granted i know he knows he's miked up, but if he's making an allegation, at least let him tell you what it is and who the alligator is.

Didn't Tony Banham run a notorious pub on the pleasant orchard park estate in the 80/90's. Heard some worrying rumours about that place.
