Both.

goals is to get more money into the game so the game can grow. everyone needs to get richer so the league is interesting, no excitement in only a few teams fighting for the title each year.

Now, SL needs to be smart and leverage the exposure into new business, Toronto will try and grow its own brand and make sure that games vs them are marketed properly but they aren't running SL...that's for Mr. Elston to do.

Honestly don’t believe Super League needs Toronto. Should they go pop tomorrow few would care this side of the Atlantic.

Who knows where the negotiations stand. What we do know, is that Wolfpack Chairman Bob Hunter arrived in Manchester on Tuesday of this week.

Didn't know Hunter was in the UK.

Maybe he can teach Elsoton a thing or two since I believe Elstone would be his junior when it comes to experience with major sport no?

Hunter was a massive addition to the team and really improved our standing as a serious sport organization, I don't know if his value is truly appreciated across the pond just yet.

Wolfpack committed to pay airfare and accommodation for League 1 and Championship clubs. Both teams stay in student accommodation which is available most of the summer. Now that students have returned, players are being put up in hotels.

Air Transat has been the sponsor airline so far. As of about a month ago, Air Transat has been bought by Air Canada and the deal has been approved by shareholders and the competition board. Whether Air Canada continue to manage AT as a stand-alone (it's really a holiday company with an airline attached), or whether they merge operations and routes, remains to be seen. Either way, the prospect of reasonable numbers of away fans of SL clubs visiting Toronto would make an attractive deal for the airline. If Elstone or one of his minions hasn't been on the phone to Air Canada by now, they are asleep at the switch.

Part of the problem is the almost pathological reluctance of SL to communicate. Who knows what they have, or haven't discussed. It creates all kinds of daft rumours, and "articles" like the one at the start of this thread, that really tells you nothing because there are no current facts or actual quotes. This rumour has been doing the rounds since the start of the season in one guise or another, and frequently revisited at the World o' Parky™.

As did the Toronto team , on holiday here before flying back ' home ' to play York/Toulouse

From a televisual perspective. The plethora of line markings and low camera angle make for a second-rate product IMHO.

Sky will show up with proper HD cameras and make a fine product. Right now its us doing our own production wich is rather good so self production no?

the lines aren't ideal I agree but you get used to them.

Bob Hunter has years of experience with building and expanding sports venues for multiple teams ... years of experience with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, which owns several of Canada's top pro teams ... massive number of contacts in the highest levels of Canadian sports media ...

But, you know, lines on the pitch.

Will Sky show up with their HD cameras? Sounds expensive....

Completely disagree with you, super league definitely needs a successful Toronto and many would want them to survive and flourish, but there are plenty of flat cappers who despise the thought of Toronto being successful.

Believe it or not I want Toronto to succeed too I just believe they are not as important to Super League as their proponents make out. It’s a nice-to-have, not a must-have.

He seems to have massive experience in stadium development , but little in actual club or competition involvement

They in the top league will attract top players from down under more than most SL clubs, that will improve the spectacle on show which will more likely to attract new viewers for sky.

They spend time in Toronto, and the pull of playing in Canada is stronger than some small northern ghost towns.

Wolfpack need to be planning for stadium expansion and getting better tv exposure in North America. That he brings both kinds of expertise to the Wolfpack is a big step forward. Others can be experts in rugby league or running a club.

Why do they need to expand Lamport at this point? If they go up and average even 9,000 it will be the 6th highest attendances in the league.

Surely Lamport is council owned , how likely are they to spend on the venue ?

Not sure if you’re joking or not, you’re telling me people would rather live in Toronto than Widnes??

No I live in Warrington but do go to all local towns and the rugby club is the only thing going for some of these towns, the actual town centres are in terrible condition .
