Just....wow....such a shame

Why don't the fans buy the club if the name seems so much.

Yes names mean a lot to fans . It’s a huge thing to them .

Name change with representation ala the proposal

Or

Licence bought and team moved ala Hemel.

Not arguing the rights or wrongs pal , just saying it’s bound to be a big thing for fans to  rebrand a name with all the history attached . You’re never gonna get everyone on board and those against shout loudest .

They're celebrating and telling all and sundry that they'd rather watch a pure club in the ... whatever amateur league they can think of ... than a rebranded Manchester Lions (Swinton) in any competition.

I mean, the chances of an amateur Swinton even making it to the start line of any competition are remote. But at least they've got their purity. And that's all that matters here.

I suspect what will now happen is that some sort of new board consisting of small-time local 'business people', a couple of ex-players and maybe a supporters trust representative will be formed, none of them with two bob to their name, and the club will continue to decline into obscurity whilst playing nowhere near  'Swinton'...

Pretty sad really, because it looked like they were moving forward, both on and off the field, these past few months.

Not sure how much it costs to run a team at their level, but these so called fans will need deep pockets.

A really shocking decision and I suspect there are things we don't even know re: behaviour of some fans. I considered Swinton as a bit of a model to follow in terms of trying to make a struggling club sustainable in the longer term. Sadly I think now this is the beginning of the end for Swinton.

Don't really know what to say , feel for Andy and the others , and also understand the fans too a degree

But they are at a crossroads , it will go one way or the other , I hope it works out for whoever takes ' Swinton ' on

I'd like to think I'm an optimist, but it all seems so depressing.

Next thing Sale Sharks jump at the chance and get the big city branding and RU get their northern mega club.

Aagh...

It doesn't seem to be two minutes wince loads of RL fans flocked to a game at Sale for what might have been their swansong in order to show support from the wider RL community.

Maybe we shouldn't have bothered after all.

Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.

Manchester Rangers should be admitted immeadiately

Too late. They don't exist as a semi pro entity anymore and are only doing grass roots projects.

Got to blame the RFL again on this one, they should've rolled out the red carpet for Manchester Rangers but instead made impossible demands and encouraged other greater Manchester clubs who are barely on life support to rebrand. Another stupid decision coming home to roost.

Sure, some fans were against it, but for the greater good, for the good of the game, for growth, for the potential fans, this is terrible news.
