Bateman - can he do any wrong

I agree with this.

We have three English/British forwards playing on the edge in the NRL in Whitehead, Bateman and Sam Burgess.  Of the three, I would bring Burgess into the lock position.  He has the size and a great engine and assuming his discipline is good he is a very good 60 to 80 minute middle forward.  We have the prop rotation to not need Sam in the front row.

WB has been playing Sam prop though so who knows.

Bateman has amazed me with his skills since Wigan.  Obviously he hasn't just developed them but is flourishing.  I think Knowles could figure.

Burgess has been back in the front row in the last couple of weeks.  With one brother out injured and another suspended I think Bennett wanted some experience up front.  And Cammeron Murray has been going great at 13 for Souths.

For most of the year, when Souths had their front row options available, Sam Burgess has been on the right edge for Souths.

Bateman is a world class back rower, there is no argument about that, at least not from anyone with any sense. I've never seen him not perform consistently at any level, so him doing well in the NRL shouldn't be a surprise.

Talk about size is naive, I don't know why it comes up so often. Their are countless examples of smaller blokes being great players and incredible athletes being average. Greg Bird wasn't a bad back rower was he.

I'm not sure about this myth that the NRL has bigger players at all, it's probably the opposite as the game as gotten faster.

Great to see Bateman proving people wrong.

I was a bit bleary eyed this morning and initially read that as the Canberra Pornlanders. For a fleeting moment, I admired the city's honesty.

We actually have some huge porn/adult toy shops in Canberra. Canberra is famous for it. Clearly marked brothels and adult shops are located right nearby regular shops in the Canberra suburb of Fyshwick.

The shops, not the brothels, even advertise on local radio and television.

I am surprised there is still a market for large stores like this when most people have the Internet, unless Canberra and Queanbeyan 20-30 years behind the times.

Well, seeing as though Australia is typically about 20-30 years behind the times, this puts Canberra and Queanbeyan somewhere around the 1970's!

Just posted this in Brits in the NRL thread but maybe more fitting here. An interview Fox league did with him and his available that was aired this week.

Become quite the star down under. If people like his strong aggressive style on the field it's hard not to like him even more after watching a video like this where he's the complete opposite.

It’s the toys that fill the shops (so I’m told ?).

I have been told you can buy that sort of stuff online too nowadays if you are that way inclined.
