Thought that was a part of the brain (in the North anyway)

It is, Ippocampus is Greek for seahorse and the hippocampus in the brain is shaped like a seahorse, hence its name.

That's the one. Knew it had wharf in it but couldn't remember the first bit.

It's not a bad spot. It is recovering from  previous managers cheesing off a lot of the local drinkers............

Just for clarity if you translate hippocampus to Greek you get,  ιππόκαμπος or ippókampos, the bar is correct to drop the 'h'.

It was merely an explanation for the benefit others as to why there is a difference in spelling, certainly not any sort of dig.

It was an attempt at humour.

The owner of Tap & Barrel in Wigan has sold his brewery but kept the pub. He no longer has Martland ales (his aforementioned brewery) and they now serve six differing casks,

In what seems to be a trend, Patsy Slevin who created Prospect Brewery, has sold that and is now just concentrating on her pub Wigan Central.

In equestrian circles, a white horse is always called a grey. There's a pub near me that has always had the exterior walls painted white. It's called the White Horse. This week, those walls have been painted grey.

Anyone ever been to the Barley Mow in Kirk Ireton, Derbyshire. I was recently in the area and dropped in on the recommendation of a mate.

They serve their ale from a keg, at gravity, first by pouring into a jug and then by pouring that into a beer glass. It is great to see such a tradition continue.

My lad has refurbed a derelict DIY store and is now the Dragon's tap in Rovrum.

He's recent had purity brewery beers on..... and wow. Great session ales at a realistic 3.6% which means i can have a few without talking utter sheeite!!

Purity.... those and chantry are the best he's had on for me.

Just 'rein' it in a bit, you were trying to 'stirrup' trouble and you know it

If anyone's going to Cov next season (IF the Bears are back from their enforced stay in Rugby), there's a brief guide to local pubs HERE

OK, it's on the RU club's Unofficial site, but, you know, hold your nose and all that...

The real Mick Gledhill is what you see on here, a Bradford fan ........, but deep down knows that Bradford are just not good enough to challenge the likes of Leeds & St Helens.
