gittinsfan
As I understand it,Mr Elstone wants the Toronto situation resolved before the Champ GF.If they are refused entry and they play Fev in the final does that mean that Fev promoted win or lose This question may have been answered previously,if so I apologise. Have Featherstone met all the criteria for promotion? Have Toulouse? Do we actually know what it is? Is it a secret? So many questions.
Mr Plow
Yeah you’d think that the runner up in the final would be promoted if Toronto are denied entry, otherwise the season is a farce which it would be anyway if Toronto are denied entry
Angelic Cynic
It is only my opinion,as I do not have the definitive answer, but based on earlier decisions on certain matters, perhaps London Broncos will retain their Super League position. They could also parachute another club in. What finance could Featherstone offer the elite clubs? Do they have a broadcasting deal? No reserves, but resilience, persistence and determination are omnipotent.

Exactly does any club promoted to SL have to prove they can add finance to SL? Why would Fev get special treatment over other clubs when they will be getting £1.9m? I'm not picking on Fev just showing what an absolute mess it is with just a couple of weeks to go to the GF?

Yes we have a broadcasting deal, as does every other Championship club, with Sky. They chose not to show the Championship though.

Oliver Clothesoff
Love a good conspiracy. I reckon there will be some sort of kangaroo court that decides if Toronto get in but they must pay a bond and if they don’t, it’s a game of Rock Paper Scissors to keep London or to promote Toulouse. DEANO
Why wait till now to make their minds up. Why wasn’t it questioned this time last year. hrtbps
If the winner of the Championship Grand Final doesn't get promoted, it'll highlight the Super League once again as a Micky Mouse competition. Agreed entirely, it will be terrible decision not to let them in, I’d probably cancel my sky subscription as I won’t be bothered to watch any more. Pretty sure they haven’t since coming into existence (though I could be wrong). That’s certainly a strange approach to take. More so when you consider we won’t know all of the facts involved in any decision process.
Sir Kevin Sinfield
Why didn’t Robert Elstone set out the promotion criteria when he visited Toronto 13 months ago? “If Toronto does earn its place in Super League next year, we have to be certain we can manage and fund the obvious logistical challenges of weekly transatlantic travel” https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.mirror.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/super-league-boss-robert-elstone-13108839.amp

I have no argument with that. The only difference between a part-time team (Fev) and a full-time team like Wakefield is £1.9m of central funding. The ridiculous part of the system is that if Fev actually upset the odds and got promotion, they have virtually no time to build a team or SL infrastructure at the club to thrive - literally 16 weeks until the season rolls round again. London tried in vain but the odds are so stacked against the promoted club it is not funny.

True but it’s the same in any sport, eg a team who go up to the premier league via the play offs have to wait until late May before they know what sort of players they’re trying to sign. Yep but RL is such a physically demanding sport. To assemble a capable squad and try to do a full pre-season in that time is so tough. The short time between seasons compared to the NRL is a huge negative.

At least Norwich, Villa and Sheff U were already full-time and can pick up players world-wide to boost their squad. This is a bigger gap with a restricted player pool. One of the arguments for licensing was to avoid yoyoing like London and Leigh. "I am the avenging angel; I come with wings unfurled, I come with claws extended from halfway round the world. I am the God Almighty, I am the howling wind. I care not for your family; I care not for your kin. I come in search of terror, though terror is my own; I come in search of vengeance for crimes and crimes unknown. I care not for your children, I care not for your wives, I care not for your country, I care not for your lives." - (c) Jim Boyes - "The Avenging Angel"
