Well yeah.. they get to play the sport they love in the best purpose built rugby league stadium on earth, in one of the biggest rugby league heartlands, in the biggest RL country on earth.

Meh... I get why you’re saying, but...

in a Mickey Mouse 9s competition and a couple of Goofy 13 a-side fixtures. For a professional athlete, this presents way too much risk for almost no reward.

The governing bodies of this sport embraced progress to fully professional athletes. It’s about time the national governing bodies offered suitable professional opportunities.

Is there any great incentive for French players to make this tour?

A bit of giggle in the 9s and astonishingly no test matches. I don’t begrudge any French player staying at home and lengthening their off season.

They are still players not good enough to play top class club or international rugby or otherwise they would not be playing sevens.

They are 2 very different games. I am trying to think of an analogy. Maybe that in athletics a marathon runner would not be selected for a sprint relay team.

Having said that one of the Fijian 7s players is in the world cup squad this year.

That is not a fitting anology as no rugby player starts out to become a rugby 7's player earning an average 20k a year.

If the rugby 7's player was good enough he would be playing in the professional 15 man game.

It may be a stepping stone for some young players to become top flight pro's but it is not a top flight comp in its own right.

A marathon/long distance runner would have chosen this as a profession at an early stage and trained non stop to become a top marathon runner.  Marathons are not just a competition for failed sprint runners.

I understand what you are saying.

But a slow runner can compete in a marathon if he has stamina. However he can't be competitive in sprints.

In the same way there is only one player at the breakdown in sevens so it is very fast. A slow prop wouldn't be effective.

It's different qualities needed for each type of game.

I see france taking on nsw country also.

Catalans already announced yaha, garcia, bouquest out of autumn international program.

Go no idea what team there taking down under but the nines train on squad had no toulouse or catlans players.

Assuming a few of the pro ranked players julian, albert, escare, simon, robin will make trip only guessing assuming emerging youngsters romano and mourgue also.

No idea status of uncontracted gigot, miloudi, fages, pelissier.

Julien declined because he wants to have a full preseason. Simon does not want to play for the NT anymore. Escare and Fages are injured.

Be interesting to see how they go.8  from Catalans and 6 from Toulouse. Jouffret who will be at Featherstone in 2020 rewarded.Pleased to see Lucas Albert and Mourgue there. Some nice stuff from both late season at Wigan and Huddersfield. Will hope that they will be seen more next year. Fages will be at Old Trafford a year after Escare and Navarette. French foot print deepens year by year. 48 French playes doing their stuff DownUnder this autumn can only make them better.

That side will destroy France. I wonder if anyone told them that Campbell Graham is in the Scotland squad too

It wouldn't.

That said, it is a great side that will be too much for the Fench. Ponga, Radley and Fifita can't have been far from being named in the full Kangaroos team.

It definitely would. That team would give any team in the world a run for it's money. Australia, England, NZ, both State of Origin teams included.
