The entire Rugby League community wants Fev to win

You’re assuming a lot there, I for one want to see a comprehensive Toronto victory, I believe I’m not alone in that wish

I really hope you are right, but watching Featherstone's game last weekend, they were crudely very effective by getting off the line extremely quick, and coming up hard in a way that a lot of SuperLeague sides don't even do.  This seemed to really unsettle Toulouse, who couldn't handle it, and then regressed into trying to play basketball style RL.  Factor in the inevitable snarling aggressive pack of fans who follow them about brandishing Rangers flags etc, and they can create an atmosphere that is quite intimidating for opposition teams and supporters alike.

As you point out, Wolfpack should be firm favourites, but I definitely don't think this is a done deal yet.

Was it the Union Jack flag?

I think that was there because they were an English side playing in France.

That’s not true, a poll on another thread shows 2/3 of fans want Toronto Wolfpack to win

Maybe not alone, but the overwhelming majority are hoping for a Fev win. Isn't that what we like over here, we love the underdog.

Ignoring the entire debate regarding the merits of the value of either side on SL (as directed at the top of the thread) most fans I've interacted with are chuffed for Fev and the run they have been on.

In the same way London and latterly Salford have been everyone's second team this year too.

Unless you're a pie fan, everyone will be cheering for Salford this week.

I didn't see any English flags which was surprising

It isn't just the fast pace that Leeds Res generate, but also their effectiveness at turning the player in the tackle, winning the wrestle and stopping a quick PTB.  Toulouse were totally unable to generate any momentum, as they were snuffed out at the tackle, lost collisions (or certainly did not win them convincingly) and their ball carriers were ineffective on the floor.

Toronto will doubtless have studied the game, but they will need to really work hard in the collision area in order to generate any kind of speed in their PTBs.  A strong ref would help too, but Featherstone were very good at playing right on the line in terms of time taken getting off the tackled player, which probably meant that even with a very strong ref, they would not have been penalised too many times.

What we will do to nullify all of this is offer each of our fellas one huge Canadian diamond with gold chain from our sponsor 'Canadian Diamonds'.

Then if our brave Canadian boys turn it around on them we give each of the fellas a matching, extra large, diamond ring!

Works every time.

Wilken will just play his heart out!

Fev are conceding far less penalties than they were earlier in the season, since they took ex-referee Dave Merrick on board as part of their coaching staff. Dave knows the game inside out but also knows the laws of the game and how other referees interpret them. He will know how Chris Kendall conducts the game and instruct the players accordingly.

Desperate for a Toronto victory, was gutted it wasn't a match v Toulouse. The best outcome for the game would be an expansion to 14 with London staying up and the 2 best teams in the Championship Toronto and Toulouse joining them

Rugby League is a sport that desperately needs to expand its geographical supporter base and its player base. This imperative means that all other requirements are secondary until this is done.

All power in the game should be with governing bodies, especially international governing bodies.

Without these actions we will remain a minor sport internationally and nationally.

Your flawed logic can be applied to 2018 and that didn't work out did it.

Thank god sport doesn't follow such simplistic logic.

Game of the season in the making. I cannot wait!

You been listening to Tory liars at their conference?

You don’t get to speak for ‘the entire RL community’. Personally I’d much rather Toronto won. I’m not alone in that.

Should be a really hard tense game. One of my earliest live game memories was at Post Office Road on a cold Wednesday evening which was a completely different world, decades removed from what I was used to! I miss the rawness of those experiences in today’s sanitised sport environment. That being said I am a fan of the Wolfpack and would dearly love to see them promoted and then make a go of it in the top flight. I invested in Gateshead Thunder Mk2 and am obviously an expansionist but also wish Fev all the best at the weekend.

One of my earliest RL memories was a Fev away match, I remember being stood behind the sticks at the end with all the houses and seeing Graham Steadman run out in a Fev shirt. I didn't know he'd left York and signed for them as I was only about 8 and I remember being absolutely gutted. Couldn't understand how that sort of thing happened.

Hated them ever since.

Looking at the two line-ups and breaking them down into three components...

I think Fev might have the overall advantage in the spine...assuming King plays, I reckon King, Jones, Chisholm and McLelland offer at least as much a threat, and probably more, than Beswick, Ackers, Mellor and McCrone.

In the back 5 though Toronto clearly have the most strike power with O'Brien, Russell, Stanley, Leutele and Kay against Golding, Render, Hardcastle, Sutcliffe and Johnson. That's where Toronto scare you.

So the packs...who knows who will get on top on the day, both packs have had good moments in the two games between the clubs earlier this season. Day and Walters are massive losses for Fev but after a sticky opening they mentally and physically wore down Toulouse.

Whether Fev have one final massive effort left in them after three huge away wins, and having spent most of the last week travelling or at work rather than training, we will see on Saturday. But as a Fev fan what a journey it has been.
