The amount of money and people available in a place like Toulouse is in a different league to a place like featherstone.

That's why, with little effort, they can move to a fantastic stadium suitable for SL and not a small 8k stadium with 2nd hand stands.

Yes, what an achievement to be Tennants of Union.

Surely when Toulouse were in the recent Play Offs against York and Featherstone and the Holy Grail of the big city Super League was within their grasp, they should have been able to muster up crowds bigger than the measly thousand or so that they got, with all these major sponsors and fans waiting in the wings.

A Metro City of about a million playing at home turns out 800 fans, a small town of 15k can bring 200 to the South of France at short notice. Speaks volumes of TOXIII playing RL since 1937 and it's big city potential.

Leeds Rhinos; Headingley Rugby Stadium

Toronto Wolfpack; Lamport Stadium

London Broncos; the Hive Stadium

Toulouse Olympique; Stade Ernest-Wallon

Sheffield Eagles; Olympic Legacy Park

Newcastle Thunder; Kingston Park

Dragons Catalans; Nou Sardenya

New York City RL; Red Bull Arena

Ottawa Stags; TD Place Stadium

Manchester Rangers; Academy Stadium

Hull FC; KCOM Stadium

Dublin Blues; Tallaght Stadium

I found the two extra teams needed from my initial post by accepting Hull FC even though it's a small to medium sized city and putting in a 3rd concept team, Dublin Blues even though they are miles behind the non entity NY & Ottawa projects (remember from the 1st post, Leigh & Salford to merge under a Derek/Marwan joint venture for a big city Manchester to happen!)

I even found home gaffs for the lot

There ya go Macca......

It'd be brilliant 2300 people in a 30K plus stadium.  Have you any idea the hold Union has in places like Toulouse, Brive la Gaillarde,, Clermont Ferrand, Limoges?  I've been to many of these places and seen it.

The Union Stadium is 19.5k, still would look brill with 25 hundred in it.

Are you thinking of the Toulouse council owned ground that the football team plays in?

In Europe the 2 main rugby league playing nations are England and France.

Their capital cities are London and Paris.

Both have multi million populations, multi national business HQ's based in their cities, both are pretty affluent with many potential investors.

Both have international transport hubs and very effective connectivity.

Both have failed to support a viable Super League club.

If rugby league cannot prosper in these 2 big cities, probably the biggest cities in Europe, then where can it prosper?

Toulouse averaged more than fev this year.

And no, it's not really 'sure' that Toulouse would be able to attract anywhere near the numbers of fans and sponsors in the 2nd tier semi-pro RL against largely small northern towns as they would in super league.

But they were only a couple of wins away from the SL, so all these potential sponsors and thousands of new fans are leaving it late to show an interest in them.

I passed a ground in the centre of Toulouse. It was huge, and it had Rugby posts.

I'm not obsessed with union like some RL fans. It isnt an existential threat to us.

And the stadium Toulouse will play in currently holds 19.5k so I dont know why you are making things up.

Also there is a reason that there are multiple large stadiums in Toulouse and not in featherstone.

For the same reason there aren't multiple large stadiums in St Helens, Widnes, Wigan, Salford, Wakefield, Keighley, Warrington, Castleford, Doncster, Rotherham, Barnsley, Halifax, Burnley, Blackburn, Blackpool, Preston, and anywhere else in northern England you'd care to mention. Get a life for god's sake and stop obsessing about Featherstone Rovers

The Stade Ernest Wallon holds 19.5k... Stade Toullousain do, on occasion, play their big games at the "football Stadium" which holds a lot more.. you may have seen them setting up for that..

Yes but Liverpool Manchester Newcastle and Sheffield don't have Super League sides.  Bradford's a bit ambiguous, depends whether you call Odsal a stadium or a redundant hole in the ground,  still at least it doesn't have second hand stands.

Some on here will question if the grounds are big enough!

We could name one of the second hand stands after him, in honour of his obsession!

RL hasn't prospered in those 2 big cities with teams there playing in a league populated mostly by teams in "small northern villages" as one other poster here described them a couple of months back which most Londoners and Parisiens won't know or rate as worth their time, attention or money.

That does not mean that RL couldn't prosper in those cities if they had teams in a league populated entirely by teams from globally recognized cities though, because that would be a whole different ball game.

I am sorry but I do not sign up to your theory.

Let's not forget that Catalan were allowed two years immunity from relegation

Indeed, the realists said Toronto could attract thousands and make it work. The dreamers wished and hoped that they wouldnt.

Thankfully realism prevailed.

Dream on
