I’m still baffled, confused even, that Old Trafford can be near enough filled and prelim and semi finals get a handful in attendances.

Is the home club responsible for the operations of the finals or Super League?

Would reducing the finals further help? Top 3 in the league, 2 v 3 at a neutral venue with the winner advancing to Old Trafford to play 1st?

Usual armchair referees spouting the usual nonsense, seriously just get off your bums and give it a go, it’s obviously so easy

If we can't debate on things unless we've done them then we may as well close the forum.

Keep it up all you bitters, my sides are spliting laughing at some of the stuff on here.

Saints have never won a game fairly always helped by the referee.?

This was always on the cards from the minute that clown was given the gig.  Was pointed out by many well before the events unfolded today.

As I said mate, my opinion not yours.

It's not an opinion, it's fact. I've seen players family on the pitch for as long as I can remember watching rl, often after the last game of the season. But hey, you enjoy wallowing in your misery.

As a neutral, I thought the first half was really excellent and was looking forward to a second half that was just as good, but have to say that I agree with other posters that in my view every 50/50 went Saints way, Ashworth could easily have been sinbinned, and lost balls seemed to be inevitably called a strip and penalty when Saints were in possession and simply lost ball when it was Salford. I thought the referee completely spoiled a great game. Yes, Saints were the better team but they didn't really need the ref's help to win and what could have been a classic became a rather damp squib.

Still, congratulations to Saints on a great season and to Salford for confounding all the pre-season pundits and coming so close to what would have been one of the greatest upsets.

Despite some 'confusing' decisions in the second half Saints deserved it for the game tonight and the season. Salford didn't help themselves with mistakes that piled pressure on when in reality they needed a near perfect game to have a realistic chance. I think they will look back and not think about refs decisions but reflect on the errors forced and unforced.

Deliberate representation by you  of what most people have posted and you wonder why some Saints fans get a negative forum reaction.

Think Saints would have won anyway and congratulations to them on a great season. The referee spoilt the game as a spectacle in the second half. I’m a neutral and just wanted to see a good game, a game the players were producing until Kendall took all the impetuous out of it. Saints didn’t need the help and some of those decisions were bizarre. I’m in the camp of refs don’t make mistakes on purpose but if was a Salford fan that would leave a bitter taste in my mouth especially knowing they’re unlikely to get there again for a very long time.

Shame we’re talking about referees in yet another big rugby league game. It really is an Achilles heel for the sport.

Interesting to hear the pundits now saying that the Saints scrum try shouldn't have been a try either.

Interesting that they didn't focus on the knock on by Salford that I thought wasn't one (but interference by Smith) which they made a big deal of during the game.  Instead they do as they always do and create some controversy to take the deserved attention away from Saints.  In 2014 it was all about Wigan losing with 12 men rather than Saints winning.  This time it will be how many mythical infringements Saints got away with.

Actually, that's all rubbish.  Saints ended up being the better side in every aspect of the game.  They won 23-4, not 5-4.  Salford had plenty of time to win the game just as Saints did after their try that wasn't back at Wembley.  Saints couldn't do it then and Salford couldn't do it tonight because we were beaten by the better side in Wembley and Salford were beaten by the better side tonight.  End of story.

Ah the pundits, well there you go then, let’s call it a mismatch and have a replay, we could draw a name out of the forum to ref it
