And so it begins!

We're after the London hooker in the rumor mill.

I knew Beswick was leaving but didn't know what club, wish him all the best at Newcastle Thunder. he's been wonderful for the team and I'm very thankful for everything he's done for us. I think he will be great for Newcastle's run for promotion from league 1.

I think Ashtons quota spot will be used for a replacement big boy as we need the size in SL.

States there's a union ENGLAND player they have been in contact with, and are actually looking at 2-3 players from the world cup - crazy!

Interesting times; would love to know who the England player is...

The Union World Cup is a good place to look for talent though; RL has picked up some good players from previous competitions. I imagine TW aren't the only club watching the competition closely.

Was mentioned it was Cipriani.

Article says "Vickers did dismiss interest in England Danny Cipriani."

seems to me it was someone else, could be wrong through

watch last weeks backchat with Vickers if you haven't. Talks a lot about the team and regarding recruitment mentioned that 80-90% of the squad will stay, they are really just replacing the departures of Sims, Beswick and 1-2 others if I recall correctly.

Cipriani's agent was the one who tried to sell him to us when we were inquiring about another player.

Sky interviewed McDermott mostly about interest in Sonny Bill Williams but he went on to say ;

"Our club would want to have a name that's absolutely international that everybody would recognise and help the profile of our game, very much like David Beckham did for Major League Soccer,"

"So, whoever it may be, you go mention the five highest-profile rugby players - league or union - around the world and we'd be interested and our club would get those.

"David Argyle will resource each one of those signings."

We live in exciting times.

also mentions what positions hey are looking at.

"We need at least four players - somebody in the front row, an outside back, a back row and someone around the ruck area - and there are four players there that we've identified"

Would surely be Farrell or Ford...both kids of RL internationals who have at least played the game.

here's the prop they are looking at, Brad Singleton. Big Mac knows him well from  his time at Leeds.

Be a big mistake to even think of offering that amount for a player who is over the hill and has been for some time,  also injury prone.Players of that age(34) don't recover that well from knocks.

Fred Truman(cricket) was accused of being over the hill and stated it was nice coming down the other side,This isn't Cricket though.League  unlike Union is an intense game  and all action. Can Williams handle that?.

Totally agree Frank.

It takes wisdom to know when a discussion has run its course.

It takes reasonableness to end that discussion.

It's not just about his playing skills on the field. Surely you can see that?

If the deal goes through, SBW will shine a big spotlight on Wolfpack that will draw attention round the rugby world. It will interest other players, fans, and rugby union people. It is another serious statement of intent from a three-year-old team that will help bring bigger sponsors and potentially tv deals into the game.

Even if it doesn't go through, it's got a lot of people talking.

Totaly agree with what you say Loup but the main concern is you staying in SL.If you don't stay, you give a lot of ammo to the doubters  and make it harder for the ones following you.Personaly I don't think you will see Williams at the Wolfpack.
