So you saw the Lions Tour merged thread and thought you would un-merge them again?

Lomax has played all year at 6 and Hardaker at 1. It’s not as black and white as you’re making it out to be.

I know that, but it's obvious and we know that Bennett sees Lomax as more of a full-back, and Hardaker has played a lot at centre, so you could put him in either, but still, put squads out in positions, like they do in RU.

Why? Players can and do play in multiple positions. There’s no need to mark players by position.

Helps me, and makes it look more professional. Could at least divide them backs and forwards.

May be useful. At least we would know if Bennett is planning to play Bateman in the centres.

Hardaker is an awful centre; Leeds fans can testify to that.

The squad seems a bit unbalanced to me. I know what Bennett is trying to do; an Aussie-type approach picking the best players (in his opinion) rather than positionally. Not sure Hardaker for example fits into that category though.

Well there are still a couple of days for Hardaker to somehow de-select himself ?

There is also a 24 hour flight with booze to navigate as well.  Hardaker could be in the squad when it takes off and not when it lands!

And penrith fans . That is a poor sticking plaster . Very light on outside backs there with a very tough physical series ahead

With Austin, Hastings, Lomax, Trueman, Widdop and Williams in the squad it does feel like Bennett is using this tour as an extended trial to decide his best halves combination for the 2020 ashes series and the 2021 World Cup.

I know a number of the above can play full back as well as in the halves but with two specialist full backs in the squad as well in Coote and Hardaker it hardly feels like he is worrying about cover there.

Six half backs and only 4 specialist outside backs (if you consider Connor a centre which I think you need to in this squad) is a very strange balance.

I am sure he has a plan... I would like to hear it though.

Hardaker  has played a lot at centre ?? He's played a handfull of games there and not very successfully.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Blake Austin play in the centres. Also, for me E Whitehead is a good option for 13.

Leave Whitehead  in the 2nd row alongside Bateman,we are going to need their outstanding edge defence.

Yeah I think that will be what happens and I agree - they're just about our best two players in defence. Was just toying with the idea because for me Graham isn't what he once was in the 13 jumper and looking at another strong in defence middle who can put a few plays on, Whitehead could be that man. If Josh Jones was more proven at the top level i'd definitely like to see this tried out.
