GF in Sydney 'til 2046

Recommended Posts

"The NRL have reached an agreement with the NSW Government on Wednesday that will see the grand final remain in Sydney throughout the $2 billion upgrade of the city’s stadium network.

The decision means that all grand finals will be played in Sydney until 2046.

Over the next three years, the grand final will be played at the SCG in 2020 and 2021 and Allianz Stadium in 2022.

The decider will return to ANZ Stadium after its $810 million upgrade is completed in 2023.

By 2023 the game will have three brand new state-of-the-art rugby league venues to ensure the optimum game day experience for our fans while our bottom line will not be impacted by using alternative Grand Final venues during the construction phase."

Qld gutted by the decision. I thought this would be their chance to get it for a year or maybe two during the upgrading of ANZ Stadium.

Was it Sydney bias or did QLD stuff up their bid?

Poor decision by the NRL,the SCG has plenty of history but is not fit to hold the games showpiece,Suncorp would have been great for the next. 2 years.
