Didn’t this happen with Kent Nottingham Scarborough Gloucester Oxford Hemel. I could go on. The list is endless.

counter that though with Newcastle and Coventry which seem to be ticking along nicely and growing... Skolars potentially too... and these clubs are growing the community game.. possibly more so than some more established clubs in the north..

its not all negative.

But without trying you will never know.

Why try when you can just slag off people who do and contribute nothing yourself.

What about getting kids playing, and adults for that matter, or is it all about professionalism to you? Hemel are still playing, and have youth teams, so even though they’ve dropped down a division it’s still a success as far as Rugby League is concerned. Good for the people who’ve done it, much better than sitting on your phone deriding them.

Full of admiration for what Hemel do. Fact is there is no appetite for watching the professional game

Great - How do you know that? Have they had a fully professional side ripping it up and winning week in week out?

No one is going to show up for a L1 match in Hemel when they were regularly getting beat every week. It's hardly the best litmus test to if they like the professional game or not.

They've even produced an England International and Super League winner.

On the same basis you could question if Leigh are working.

Its the same for many clubs

No comparison. One is contained in the history of the sport the other a flash in the pan.

How can you say TWP are a flash in the pan - you have no idea what’s going to happen to them. If in 5 years they’ve disappeared with no legacy in Canada then fine, but until then no.

Its somewhere between bitterness, jealousy, maybe even fear and sheer myopia.

Its got to be remembered that its not just about the team that is playing at home but the opposition is important, is there something to create excitement to get new people along to the game? are there names that you "know" and want to go and see? etc.. League 1 is a terrible test of whether a team/area is ready for professionalism in these terms IMHO

League one is a league of two (tiny) divisions. I think Rochdale (this season), Barrow, Newc, Donny, Workington and Keighley will be competitive and are all not far off being Championship set ups. However certainly West Wales and to a lesser extent Skolars, Cov and N Wales are way off the pace, though it’s good that they’re playing stronger sides and they are definitely all improving year on year.

Skolars were pretty on the pace for quite a lot of last year - till the wheels came off.

Yup, that is exactly what I was saying. Thanks for articulating it in a way that I was clearly struggling to do.

But then all the established clubs would be at the bottom lol
