And he wasn’t even the best prop yesterday, Taukieaho for me is probably the best out there. Fifita is sadly a shadow of his former self but there are some terrific props in our game with Fonua Blake, Thompson, Papali and Warea Hargreaves all outstanding. The latter has really impressed me in the last couple of seasons. The improvement under Trent Robinson is phenomenal. He’s cut out the stupidity in his game, silly errors and attempt to just knock peoples block off and he’ll now do effective 60 minute stints in the middle of the park. Dunbar Posted November 3, 2019 Share Posted November 3, 2019 Payne Haas is simply an incredible athlete. He comfortably led the run metres and tackle breaks for all the props in the NRL this year. He even ranks up near the top in tackles made. To do all that in the toughest league in the world at just 19 year of age is remarkable. And then he goes on to play for Australia and the Kangaroos rely on him to make an impact against a dominant Tongan pack. There is every chance he will overtake Taumalolo as the best forward in the game in the next year or so. Warea Hargeaves has the worst penalty per minute ratio of all the props in the NRL. He concedes a penalty every 49 minutes. Payne Haas, for example, concedes a penalty every 150 minutes. I am not saying Hargreaves is not a good prop, I really rate him, just that he remains one of the most penalised players in the NRL despite an improvement in that area. Given he’s the enforcer in the pack, it’s natural that he will concede more penalties than most. Furthermore, as he does more minutes than most, he’s also more likely to concede more penalties as he will be more fatigued. I thought T-Rex was going to muller England for the next decade and he just lost his way. Lets see how Haas develops over the next couple of years. He looks an amazing prospect. Has played long minutes this season . Real freakish talent who could be absolutely anything . No doubt his parents had a sense of humour but I bet he wasn’t bullied and laughed at in school ...You look at the broncos with Haas, Pangai , Fifita , Ofahengaue etc and you wonder how they were so average . But there’s a bit more deep thinking in this area than generations passed . Tackle their legs yes , and they offload or get a quick play the ball . It’s all wrestle , two or three man tackles and controlling the ruck and it’s speed now .
