Super League Show

Now that Toronto has made ‘The Biggest Signing in the History of the Universe’ etc, could the BBC please, please, please broadcast/be allowed to broadcast nationally the Super League Show when people aren’t in bed or at work so we can maximise the exposure on terrestrial television?

Tradition? Football isn’t a fair comparison really, with its popularity and money. 

SL show is available, I’m sure people will find it if they want to see Sonny Bill. Maybe it could be advertised a bit more though.

Of course it matters. The floating viewer isn't going to magically come across it and start watching it on the iplayer.

10:30pm on a Saturday night is hardly prime time, but I do get the point. Sunday lunchtime would be good like they do during the SL play-offs but obviously not all of the games have finished by then. Maybe a Monday evening on BBC2

Is this a Beeb thing?

If not, maybe we should be looking to the channel that shows it to broadcast a SL Magazine show.   There’s enough fans out there to justify it.   Only problem is that the commercial department would follow the government advice and target ‘Workington Man’ during ad breaks.   Basically two minutes of Cheesy-Peas commercials done with an over-elaborate Northern accent voiceover.

The SLS could scarcely be more ‘bare minimum’. 

It should absolutely be better, with better pundits, better analysis and better commentary. We’re jizzing away terrestrial coverage of our flagship comp.

If you think they record on Monday, so have had days to actually analyse the Thursday game, let along anything else. Same old names saying nothing every week.

If your going to target Workington man you need to advertise Chees XL crisps & cheap weekends in the Big City ( Carlisle) ??

You think people are flicking around the channels after Strictly looking for things to watch? They’ve got Netflix and stuff piled up on record.

Even in 2019 people need to be aware of something to wish to download and record it. Super League on iPlayer only preaches to the converted.

And yes the majority of people do still flick through channels looking for something to watch.

Which is why it needs advertising, marketing, investment etc...not just a change in tv slot. Obviously, you can apply that to all of RL, not just the SL show. 

Well if the majority are still (wasting their lives) channel hopping, it’s changing rapidly...especially in younger people, which surely has to be the target market for a sport to grow and thrive.

That's incorrect. Millions of people are discriminating in what they watch so don't have or need Netflix. In any case, how do people know what is on so they can choose? The BBC real-time channels are stuffed with adverts for their own shows. They wouldn't do that if it doesn't work, would they. So advertise the Superleague show in a way that attracts sports minded viewers, not just RL minded viewers. Put it on nationwide, at a sensible time.

Don't want to be cruel, but I must point out if Yorkshire, Lancashire and Cumbria broke away to form a republic, call it, Yorlancbria, the national sport of said nation would not be RL, but football. Does that answer the question of why the beeb show isn't nationwide. The media, i.e. TV, Papers , Netflix Amazon or whoever don't owe RL anything. It's up to RL to create a nationwide product FIRST then tv or whoever will want it. Broadcasters don't deliberately put shows at times to get less viewers, if it warrants nationwide attention it'll get it, but it isn't the BBC 's business to create that interest, that is RFL's domain, and they're not exactly very good at it!!

Nope, us Yorkshire people would be extremely benevolent in accommodating aforementioned smaller areas and letting them be called YORKSHIRE as well! ?

Indeed, I bet more people watch 'Shed and Buried'.

But that’s it...it’s a sport’s governing body’s responsibility to make the game attractive to people, not the BBC’s. The BBC could advertise the programme more, yeah, but if the game was thriving, people would be seeking out the content, which might prompt the BBC and others to take it more seriously. Just saying ‘we’ve got Sonny Bill now so give us a prime time spot’ probably won’t do it for them.
