Nominate your World XIII

Recommended Posts

Rugby League World will be publishing its annual World XIII and World Ratings next month.

The ratings are compiled from the votes of a panel of journalists and coaches ... and fans!

As a member of the TRL forum, you get the exclusive opportunity to influence the nominations.

All you have to do is nominate at least one (and up to five) player(s) in each position in the list below and post it in this thread (or you can PM me if you don't want anyone else to see your nominations).

All the nominations posted here will be compiled into one overall set of nominations and added to those of the rest of the panel to create the final World Ratings.

For reference, a full list of previous World XIII’s, published over the past 40 years by Open Rugby/Rugby League World, can be viewed via the link below:
https://www.totalrl.com/a-complete-history-of-the-world-xiii/

Any 'joke' nominations will be ignored, so please don't waste your time posting any.

Nominations close on 2nd December.

Think you might have made a mistake, I reckon you’ve accidentally included one player from outside the NRL in your top 50 or so players ?

My Team:

RTS

Addo Carr

Wighton

Mitchell

Makinson

Munster

Cronk

JWH

Smith

Taukeiaho

Bateman

Cordner

Taumalolo

hmm not many SL players there either, but there would be more in the top 5 with the likes of Thompson, Hastings, Roby, Clarke, and maybe even Gildart and Williams being in the mix if they’d toured and played well.

No mistake if I had to chose the top 200 it might include 3 or 4 from outside the NRL ..., and I am English

Well the saying goes "you are as good as your last game" and I think it is without question that International Rugby League is a step up from club rugby - yes even for the NRL player's - so given that the perfornances of those in Red, White and Blue over the past few weeks as been somewhat to be desired, One bad game out of 4 I can live with but to underperform 4 from 4 from some of those who are being included in some selections on this topic is really extending the leniency clause somewhat.

I have often thought that this World ranking/selection is just a bit of fun with no meaning at all to it, especially when our own Mr Sinfield recieved the accolade as the Worlds best, I seem to recall at the time he was really embarrased by it, and quite rightly so.

It's just opinions.

In the opening post, John Drake was very clear on joke nominations.

Golden boot 2018, continued impressive form in 2019, scoring great tries that look impossible to ground, that only world class wingers achieve. Certainly not a joke selection.

Oh, right then. OK.

what sort of money will this 'best winger in the world' be on then? just approximately?

I assume St helens had to re-negotiate his contract?  Given that predatory NRL clubs will doubtless be all over him, clamouring to sign him as he is the number 1 Rugby League winger in the world.  Which NRL clubs are interested in him incidentally?  (I just have not actually heard of any myself...)

Sydney Roosters will be in huge trouble trying to handle this incredible threat from the wing in the WCC game too!!  He will be too big for Daniel Tupou, and probably too fast for Brett Morris.  If Ryan Hall shows up off the bench, I can imagine this incredible Makinson bloke will probably run over the top of him, such is his incredible strength.

23 tries in SuperLeague, including some which "that look impossible to ground" is not to be sneezed at either..... especially when they come against teams such as Hull Kingston Rovers, Huddersfield Giants, or the legendary Wakefield Wildcats......

If this incredible 'World's Number 1 Winger' had been able to bring all the pace, power, strength and skills in his 5'11'' 92kg (wow!) frame to the GB touring team, the defeat to Papua New Guinea could well have been a little less of a hammering.

A true world class game changer : "Tommy Makinson"

Still haven't found your selections, too busy having an opinion on others I guess
