The men’s draw will split the teams into three pots. One team from each pot will make up four respective groups.

Pot 1 - All quarter-finalists from 2017 qualified automatically for 2021 - Fiji, Lebanon, Papua New Guinea and Samoa
Pot 2 – France, Jamaica, Scotland and Wales
Pot 3 – Cook Islands, Greece, Ireland and Italy

England shall be pre allocated into Group A as hosts, world champions Australia into Group B, New Zealand into Group C and Tonga into Group D.

RLWC2021 and International Rugby League (IRL) have agreed that each group should represent the rugby league playing world and, as such, will contain at least one nation from the Pacific region and at least one nation under the jurisdiction of the Rugby League European Federation. Therefore, Lebanon will not be included in the draw for Group A (England’s group) and will be reintroduced after either Fiji, Papua New Guinea or Samoa is selected. The rest of the draw will then be conducted without any other changes.

One major downside of this is that IF and that is a big IF, England somehow don't finish top of group A, then we'll play Australia in the quarters and likely get knocked out... and with PNG, Samoa and Fiji as potential challengers for that top spot... all I can say is Bennett out!

I'm hoping for

A - England, Fiji, France, Italy

B - Australia, Lebanon, Scotland, Ireland

C - NZ, PNG, Jamaica, Greece

D - Tonga, Samoa, Wales, Cook Islands

England hosting Fiji or Samoa to open would be good. Having Tonga V Samoa guaranteed would be huge too.

So many great potential groups there. I think England v Fiji would be a fantastic opener. I'd quite like England v PNG as well though with how well they played against GB, they could give England a good game. At the same time England v Scotland or Wales might be a good shout with it being two home nations, might get hyped up a bit more but wouldn't be very competitive I don't think. Whatever the draw is its gonna be the greatest world Cup in the history of sport! ?

There is so much to like about what the organisers are doing for this world cup... innovation and quality coming through all the time.

Random thought - could Boris be getting involved with the draw after Workington Man Wot Won It?

Could be some great publicity for the game if the Tories use the 2021 WC to show how they are in touch with the North etc.

No fan of Boris but that's actually a good shout. The Rlwc will be the biggest international sporting event in the UK in the next parliamentary term, and given the new electoral geography, we should make the most of it.

Shame they had to drop the actual games in Workington, though. Maybe Boris can order the chancellor to build the new stadium in time?

Or a Torries V Under 8's game in a charity match fundraiser for The Labour Party

If England, Australia, New Zealand and Tonga all top their group and win their quarter finals, who will play who in the semi finals?
