I see them as basically an allegory of the battle between good and evil, the ram clearly being demonic, and Battler representing the light and good in the world. Much the same as the neverending battle between the dark and light side in Star Wars. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . can't wait for Boxing Day, if only to get out of the house!
