Yes.......? So what's your point? Has it been a huge step forward so far or we just waiting on Toulouse?

nah les catalans have been a massive failure.

toronto will add nothing to super league except global media coverage, and a full stadium with 10k each week.

real shame it wasnt featherstone who won the promotion game, super league would have been a whole lot better.

We need to wait for Toulouse, that is the game changer. After all as we often hear on this forum their 1,500 fans will turn into 15,000 as soon as they go up and there is also a multi million French tv deal ready to be signed once they’re in.

just have P and R with all the small english teams.  leave the expansion teams out of that nonsense.

There isn’t an english team in the SL, or one that’s been in it in the last 10 years, that are smaller than Toulouse currently are.

Les Catalans crowds before super league and after

Rinse and repeat with Toulouse

Especially after the crowd at.ernest Waldron last year

Even the Toulose union team have a belief in them letting them share their stadium

You can’t say that because one team has had fairly successful crowds then another will, just because they’re from the same country. I’d love to see Toulouse getting five figure crowds in SL but there is literally nothing to suggest they will imho.

On the same note you have no justification for saying they won't be successful either

Wondered how long it would take you to get that in? Did you start this thread just to get there?

It appears that he is. On the same note he must think Oldham would average 28,000 if they returned to the top flight

Actually no, it was other people who (as usual) diverted it onto Toulouse and this absurd notion that they should be given a place in SL and keep it, without earning it on the pitch.

im trying to say that league has been established in toulose before and been very sucesful.

Out of interest, what was the last five figure crowd since a World Cup Final 65 years ago?

why are you fixated on crowds over 10k?

the super league crowd average is well below this

they got 6k for the game vs toronto last year in the championship

the proof is already there.  they will easily be one of the clubs in super league with a higher crowd average because lets be honest, the bar is quite low to beat at the bottom

Is it absurd and a mistake that Catalans were allowed this?

I’m not, it seems that you are because you’re trying to use a crowd from 65 years in a game that was the very pinnacle of the game to justify the inclusion of Toulouse Olympique in Super League.

Also “proof” equates to a lot more than one game.

lucky you arent making the decision about toulose in super league then with all these demands for "proof".

though ralph wouldnt be far off your views in expanding the game.

Yes, they should have been relegated on finishing bottom, rather than making the likes of Widnes go down when they’d finished above them. Widnes never recovered from that which is shameful as far as I’m concerned.

What makes Catalans more worthy than them, or any team more worthy than another when it comes to a place in the top flight - it should all be down to results on the pitch imho.

It’s not really, the lowest average is far bigger than Toulouse’s average.

Plenty of Championship  teams get bigger gates than Toulouse, so why aren’t you bleating on about them being given a place? By your logic Widnes would be getting 15,000 every week if they went up, and Bradford 20,000.

well if league was like soccer and had like 50 massive clubs, sure that would be a fine argument.

but youve got six big clubs, the expansion clubs then the rest are all a bit meh.

the only reason P and R works with soccer is because its such a massive sport, with so many massive clubs.

look how many ex Premier league sides are rattling around out of it, but with crowds of 14k - 35k on average.
