No I can't see the value.  Even if they get 15k show up then what?

Toronto would have a benefit.

Me I'm.from Leigh can't you tell ? Lol I love the wolfpack

Then they might start playing, set teams up, get their kids interested, buy merchandise etc.

This idea is just dumb.  There are loads of Tongans in Tonga.

The game has to raise money.

That will be tougher in Tonga.

If the choice is (and I do not know it is the case) between losing money that could be spent on local development by having the game in Tonga, or raising more money for local development by hosting it in the USA, then the choice becomes more interesting.

Making money or even breaking even anywhere will be difficult.

There is a reason the NRL support these games held  in Western Sydney.

Talent is secondary to whether players are confident.

Indeed.

Frankly, we have to stop considering them as primarily sporting events. I fear.

As long as the promoter pays lol

It would do a lot more.in Tonga though and all.the Tongans around the world.would see that

Union doesn't play tests there bc it doesn't make money

Maybe the nrl.could.see.an opportunity to.assist

My preference is Toronto.  Especially as sbw can play for Samoa

You do realise that Tongas Stadium is basically a Paddock that holds 10k max

The locals would be able to afford about $2-4 Au to attend the game.

It would not cover the costs of staging the game.

It wouldn't cost that much.  It's not like each player.gwts 40k a test

Its not the player cost its the flights, accommodation, food, Stadium hire, Doctors and Ambulances at the ground etc etc.

I travel for work, its costs around $400 per day minimum, times that by around 40 people that are probably staying in  better hotels and hiring Gyms and training facilities and International flights.

5 Days x $400 is $2000 x 40 is $80k ++++Plus

It loses money big time.

If it was a Cash Cow it would have been milked to death years ago.

Its a dead end.

I have been to these Island many times over the years, they are dirt poor.

That's why I said originally the nrl.should.cover the losses if it's in Tonga.  And I also said union doesn't hold.tests there bc it loses money lol

Why would the NRL the governing body of an Australian Club League cover Test matches played in Tonga they have no control or interest in?
You are losing the plot.

You can do what you want.

Australian posters on this Forum are often seen as trouble makers and pro NRL believers.
You have taken it to another level in recent times.

It's worse than that.

It's been a fair while since I've been, so maybe some of these problems have been fixed, but there's basically no way to secure the pitch at all, there aren't enough toilets (especially women's) and the ones they do have always flood (literally raw sewage pooling up if there're enough people), there aren't adequate facilities for professional players, the lighting wouldn't be adequate for night games, there're no media facilities whatsoever, and those are just the problems that come to mind.

On top of all that, you probably couldn't host a game at Nuku'alofa's Teufaiva Stadium anyway because it was badly damaged by cyclone Gita almost two years ago now. I could be wrong, but they probably aren't finished renovating it, though I imagine that the main stand would be done by now.

On Australian forums I'm seen by many as an anti-establishment guy who is constantly negative towards the NRL, whom refuses to accept any of the positive things that it does.

Here I'm seen as an NRL sycophant that can't accept that it does any wrong, and will defend it no matter what.

It's a very weird experience.
