What a pickle he’s got himself into . Either he’s made a mess of it being greedy or he’s listened to the wrong people

Think it's a combination of both really, I wonder how low he will have to drop his demands to get a spot!

If he drops it to £100 and a pizza at dominos we’ll have him at town . Perry Singleton signed for Barra so we need a centre

Don't forget the downside, he might bring Anthony Mundine with him, he'd go down well on a Friday night in Worky!

If he does sign him he certainly wont be getting the $800,000 he was offered at the Roosters.

The folly of taking advice from Mundine.

I have trouble believing it TBH. Time will tell. We should hopefully hear something in the next week, as he is due back to Roosters training on 6 January.

yep, hold your hand up and say sorry, pledge your love for the team and the fans, get back to training, get yer head down, forget about the off season - tomorrows another day.

see you later undertaker - in a while necrophile

From that Channel 9 link:

Mitchell has reportedly split with Wayne Rushton to sign with Matt Rose but that in itself is murky with suggestions Rushton is after a juicy pay out figure, which could be up to $140,000.

$140K for what???? For not getting him signed anywhere? For stuffing around until his contract value had dropped $200K?

Mitchell should just sign a one-year deal with Wests @ $800K and that sorts him out for 2020 and allows his manager to keep talking to clubs about next year. There won't be any clubs with more than $500K space left in 2 weeks.

Sydney Roosters star Latrell Mitchell is weighing up signing a reduced one-year deal with the South Sydney Rabbitohs worth $400,000 a season, according to a report by Fairfax.

It would be a big risk for the centre, who would be banking on the Bunnies finding cap space to offer him a lucrative extension from 2021.

Should he agree to the Rabbitohs offer or suffer serious injury in 2020, Mitchell would lose significant bargaining power for his next contract negotiations.

The 22-year old has been offered a four-year $3.8 million deal by the Wests Tigers.

He thought he was in control and held all the chips and bargaining power ... now it looks the opposite and he’s being backed into a corner as time passes . What a total horlicks he’s made of it

Even if he thinks he's got a deal it will have to be audited for salary cap purposes.

For example if he were to take up the $400,000 a year contract offered by South (supposedly) it may be considered his contract is paying him below his market value so won't be acceptable for salary cap calculations:

I have mixed feelings about this. His case is unusual and everybody knows why he might end up on $400K so it's not like Souths have created the situation where they get him at half-price. So what happens if Souths can't afford $800K and Wests offer $800K? The NRL can't make him sign with Wests so how can they assign a notional value when he signs somewhere else?

If there's an auction and all the bidders only have $5 in their pockets then the true market value of the next lot is no more than $5. Unless the NRL can produce some evidence of under-the-table top-up, they should butt out.

Nah wrong

He's played the chooks into a corner

He wasn't entitled to an upgrade this.year

Roosters have already paid him 140k and the longer he stays the more he gets

Plus 400k from south's and he'll get what he would've got anyway

Great move by south's.  Roosters might come to.rue this

If they need to they can sort out a 3rd party deal for 100k

Maybe Roosters will top up his pay over and above what Souths pay him... if he goes there.
