McDermott just set his pre season excuse should TWP fail.

So your head coach even thinks you will fail.

saying it on an internet forum and wishing it will happen doesnt really change anything.

its not like mcdermott is reading your posts and saying, you know what, SL17 is right im not going to bother.

maybe i should try and get a job with leigh instead

There's nothing with TWP trying to crack the worlds biggest sporting market at no cost to anyone but themselves, but don't kid yourself that they will achieve anything like that goal, even if you remove the salary cap and let Argyle feed his ego by buying Superleague title that nobody in North America will care about.

hows new zealand these days ?

It doesn't matter...you are still not listening...use your ears.

You still do not see, use your eyes.

You still do not understand, use your brain.

It does not matter what you think, or what  McDermott thinks,  or anyone else from Toronto or Leigh,  for that matter.

The Rugby Gods have ordained it and feasted upon it at Lamport (when we played Hunslet)...it is our destiny.

It will never happen...it is pre-ordained.  Your thoughts of failure are like gentle whisps going against a Great Lakes Gale.

Going by their crowds and support at their games, more people would care over there  than half the clubs in England.

At this point and after a valiant effort, this thread has gone the way of countless others. Try to demean the messenger to demean the message.

lets be fair that happens on both sides of the argument and each are as bad as one another, normally based on the history of said poster though ie no matter what is said to disprove a point made the continue to make the same point.

i think the wolfpack fans should ignore the obvious trolls and just respond to negative comments from people who clearly mean it constructively.

eg davet seems a fan of toronto but makes some negative comments.  these are what they should respond too.

when someone just always posts negative stuff about toronto its clearly a waste of time engaging.

ive often found ignoring them actually is the best response of all.

even man of kent makes some good points against them sometimes when hes not on a wind up.

How long has these salary cap rules been in place ? As for Mcdermott when he was in charge at both London and Leeds I'm sure he'll have worked within the salary cap. Tough that's all I can say.

Actually he made similar comments at London and at Leeds the cap isn't a problem. The club by virtue of its success can retain good players on lower wages than other clubs would have to pay.

Sod given TWP extra cap, just allow them 4 points for a win, 2 points for a draw and 1 for a loss.

Dispensation because of genuine issues is one thing, dispensation because they haven't managed the cap at all is another.

Get your tin hat out! ?

Convenient how the negs here all overlook/ignore details like that, but I'd take that deal.

If only the negs could have seen the excitement Las Vegas created all around the sports world in their incredible first- year run.

TWP have spent up to the limit of the Salary Cap, unless there is an injury crisis, there seems to be no grounds for dispensation. The only possible exception i can think of is the Canadian or UK governments have changed Visa regulations this years making it harder to recruit players? If not they have had 3 years in the championship to figure out the Visa situation. A squad of 23 players is light and as TWP have spent the Salary cap already. The only option within the rules seems to be recruit Rugby Union players. Argyle needs 2 -3 Union Recruits ASAP, there must be at least one Canadian Rugby Union Sevens player who could handle the transition getting a run off the bench when injuries occur? there must be able to find at least 2 UK union players who have played a bit of league as kids who want to have go at playing League for a North American pro side?

When the counter-argument to any proposal for change made by the Toronto Wolfpack is "You joined our league, those are the rules" it's fairly clear that no-one is really listening to the ideas suggested. (In any area, not just this one.)  In this specific case, SL teams have a vested interest in not making the change as it would potentially provide an advantage to a competitor in the immediate future.  If Hull KR or Huddersfield are worried about relegation, they're not going to agree to make a rival stronger.  At the same time, Mr McDermott's suggestion seems to be more broad than one would assume at first glance.  It appears he would like these types of changes made to encourage new expansion teams and more growth in the sport in the long term, which could potentially be good for the game.  Attract the best UK talent back from the NRL. Make rugby league an attractive career option to reverse the drop-out rate of young players to other sports or regular occupations.

So, in the immediate analysis, it looks like he's asking for an advantage for Toronto, which would be rejected, but in the long run he appears to be seeking something to benefit the game, which should at least cause some thought and consideration, perhaps for future years.
