It's hilarious seeing him talk himself in circles, his little mind just implodes at the mere mention of Toronto and then spews it all into his keyboard ?

I'm.not finding it much fun responding to him though.  I'd like more of a challenge

But that's just your spin, so nobody else has that view.

Getting somebody else to pay for something doesn't mean you can't afford to pay.

Just sounds like good business.

Could be spun the other way, that there's so much potential in their home Cities, new teams with rich backers are willing to pay large additional costs to bring Rugby League to their Home Stadiums.

The word is beloved!  The day we gave our reserves up was indeed a sad day for the club. Although playing against fresh air didn’t help.

They went to SL without marquees and also on a smaller SC . They beat a system put in place (8’s) that even TWP couldn’t beat.

They created a level playing field at the cost of one mans wallet.

What have TWP done with their expenditure, to support the game?

All hail Degsy, the saviour of RL,so why did you ditch your teams youth/reserves when you got promoted then.

What have the other Superleague clubs done with the extra 120k they were given as a result of Toronto's promotion to support the game ?

He should stick to drunken post match speeches.

HQ sold out today for the wolfpacks SL debut

I'm sure GH isnt crying about lost income when he counts the bar takings tomorrow

Good to see their positive impact on away attendances continuing even in SL.

But they are wrong. Hell each club is about £120k each better off this year from central funding.

SL clubs don't want to invest the additional costs of a Canadian team in SL. They have negotiated that somebody else will do it.

The interesting point on this is that it was TWP who introduced the model of no central funding, covering travel costs and paying for TV coverage.

So why do they need Toronto to pay their expenses for coming over here then?

No Toronto didn't introduce that model, it was imposed on them by the RFL as a condition of being allowed in and then reimposed by the RFL and SL as a condition for letting them come up when it was only supposed to apply when they were in the lower tiers.

Wasn't it celebrated that they signed Air Transat to cover flights etc? Iirc that was part of the whole proposal. But now it seems history is being rewritten to show how hard done TWP are.

And they don't need Toronto to pay for them, they want them to pay it.

SKY TV just announced that as well as today, they will be showing 10 more Toronto Wolfpack matches this season, including 8 from Lamport Stadium.

It's good news, but doesn't help us season ticket holders watch the away matches.

But, here's hoping something else happens.

It appears to me they are getting more coverage that ANY OTHER RL TEAM on the planet.

Yes, they had to subsidize the travel costs of the semi-pro teams in League1 and the Championship - they just made a good business deal with Air Transat.

They honestly believed things would be different in the so-called Super League. Turns out it isn't. But TWP gave in to the blackmail. Better to get in to SL under onerous terms than be denied entry entirely.

You weren't  invited into the league you pushed your way into it.

Did it with a level of obnoxious boasts and belittlement of the clubs in the league that is now coming back onto you in a level of Karmic payback that was always to be expected.

Gatecrash a party and abuse the guests, don't expect to borrow money for the taxi home.

And the RFL could have said no, go away, we don't want you to be a member of our quaint little club.

But they didn't. And now they're trying to squeeze every little bit of extra cash they can out of TWP before kicking them out the door and declaring expansion yet another failure.

It is to laugh.

What extra cash have they squeezed out of them?

All i remember is claims of 10,000 tickets sold out for every game (very impressive in a 9k stadium).

The huge TV deal and the wealth of resources you would bring.

How the smaller clubs in Super League should not exist because they did not follow the great american dream.

Small thinkers with no big plans.

As we have seen with the test match in Denver.

The trouble with the North American dream is occasionally you have to wake up and rejoin reality.

They did win the Championship, which is also a factor.

Who ever said those smaller clubs should not exist?  They should continue to exist at the appropriate level for them for as long as they are able to do so.

--£125000 in TV revenue shared amongst the other SL teams immediately comes to mind.

All i remember is claims of 10,000 tickets sold out for every game (very impressive in a 9k stadium).

--That it is. Lots of heartland teams would kill for that sort of attendance

The huge TV deal and the wealth of resources you would bring?

--Sky is quite happy with their dealings with TWP and a happy Sky bodes well for the entire RL structure. The only people who are getting screwed are we Canadians who can't see the games. (And before you say it I simply can't go to them play live.)

How the smaller clubs in Super League should not exist because they did not follow the great american dream?

--How exactly does TWP threaten their existence, beyond dragging them out of the complacent little shell many have been living under for far too many years now?

--Nothing remotely to do with TWP.

The trouble with the North American dream is occasionally you have to wake up and rejoin reality.

--And the trouble with all you TWP-haters is that you don't understand we're now well into the 21st Century but if the game of rugby league doesn't make some fundamental structural changes its not going to see it's bicentennial in 2095. Heck it'll be lucky to get to 2045.

Well congrats to Cas on a nice win and start to the season.  Who do we got next week?

Salford. U don't win that and you're screwed looking at the following 4 fixtures. Frightening to think of how hapless Toronto will look against Saints, Wigan, Warrington and Leeds.

I take no pleasure in that btw. They are clearly woefully underprepared. That isn't controversial is it?
