We'll see how this all works in a few weeks' time, either we start to see stabilisation of numbers or numbers will go up. If the latter, well, that's one for the politics thread.

No. Are you suggesting that all messages ever issued are active.? That's nonsense. The later one supercedes the earlier one. It's an update. You view is the equivalent of accusing Apple of mixed messages every time it updates it's OS.

It still isn't clear though. Even the meaning of "non essential shops" isn't clear except for a few specific examples. In reality, it's not a lockdown if 75% of the country can move with near impunity due to the huge loopholes.

Two different messages where put out. 2 days later people are still questioning what they should do, hence people all over the news and on the last page looking for clarification. Most of the news I have watched this morning is literally discussing this and people not knowing what to do, if people still don't know what to do then its obvious that the message isn't clear enough. It is not people's fault if the message isn't clear enough. U-turns and mixed messages are the hallmarks of the Governments handling of this crisis.

I am a specialist anticlockwise candle wick twister. I cant work from home as i need to use the 15th century wick-twisting tower. I live in Cheltenham but our factory, operated by Cistercian momks, is located in Devises. I lost my driving  licence earlier this year and have travelled to work on a mix of taxis, lifts and public transport. Without me, the place will shut and the wick-dippers will lose their jobs. I'm divoried with joint custody of our triplets and it's my turn to look after them this week. Their usual nursery is closed as the proprietor is stuck in Peru on a trek. Absolutely no advice from the govt or NHS. ????

Are both these messages running in parallel?  Anyway, you are strayng into territory of the political forum.

Overcomplicating things or pretending to misunderstand something for political gain.

Go to politics thread.

It's simple, go to work if work is still open,  if you haven't been told to work from home.

They need to stop pretending it's a lockdown then. That's barely a sheet of tissue paper trying to stop an HGV level of lockdown.

Is lock down a media phrase?

It's a series of temperary measures introduced by the government to combat COVID19.

As are you. Then again I forgot that it is okay for you to do so until anyone criticises the Conservative Party.

It's the govt, not any party. Does Boris have to read and sign every word of every sentence of every page of everything or do the ministries just get on with it.

There's no Rugby League to talk about so I am on here to read people's observations and experiences on a specific major global event, I do not want politics, there's a politics thread for that guys. I stopped discussing sport or anything really on social media channels especially Facebook ages ago and started commenting more on here instead because of the sheer amount of absolute dross on social media. I know there's more common sense in TRL than social media, let's keep the subjects to the subject matter threads please.

Update on my MOT question

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-mots-for-cars-vans-and-motorcycles-due-from-30-march-2020?fbclid=IwAR1Uz3m2WvIhEIYGY54gDjcLfe4OjJ35e4umYVnxa0qouNI-cEy6KJ9nzVY

From 30 March 2020, MOT due dates for cars, motorcycles and light vans will be extended by 6 months. This is being done to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

There’s separate guidance about what to do if your MOT due date is up to and including 29 March 2020.

What you need to do

You do not need to do anything to extend your vehicle’s MOT expiry date if it’s on or after 30 March 2020. However, you must keep your vehicle safe to drive.

Your vehicle will be automatically given a 6-month MOT exemption. This will extend your current MOT expiry date by 6 months.

ExampleYour vehicle’s MOT was due to expire on 3 April 2020.

This will automatically be extended to 3 October 2020. You will need to get your MOT by this date.

You can check your MOT history to see when you have been issued an exemption. It will not be updated straight away, so keep checking back if your new due date MOT is not yet showing.

You will not get a paper exemption certificate.

If your vehicle tax is due, you can tax your vehicle as soon as your MOT due date has been updated.

If your vehicle’s first MOT is due

Your vehicle will be automatically given a 6-month MOT exemption from the date its first MOT was due.

Most bizarre rumour I heard was that ISIS have advised people to not travel to Europe in light of the virus. WTF? I hope it’s a true story.

On Breakfast Time on BBC this morning Dan and Louise sat 2 metres apart. But Is it essential that there needs to be two of them. Wouldn't one of them do?.

They had one by herself on Sunday I think.

You are not allowed to drive unless you have a destination, and that destination is an allowed destination I.e home, work, supermarket and other allowed destinations. You can't just go out for a drive because you fancy a bit of a drive about, you must stay at home.

Could you link to the guidance on driving. I've been wondering about this. Can I drive to go for my walk away from the vicinity of my home for example?

I get that you can't aimlessly have a drive, but can I drive to a place for exercise?

There isn't much left of ISIS after they were told to start working from home... ?
