NSFW - Projekt Melody

Has anyone here seen her? I haven't and camgirls aren't my thing but she's certainly making waves. If you don't know who/what she is, it would take a fair bit of internet lore to explain.

I'm also not familiar with that corner of the web but a cam girl is someone who broadcasts themselves live doing "requests" from the audience who can pay them money for certain actions. Similar to "twitch thots," which is another web phenomenon. The fact that Melody streams on a site called chaturbate probably gives you a clue.

But .... Melody is a 3D computer-generated artificial intelligence. Everyone else in that field is just plain human. She has become so popular that some of her competitors have taken to twitter complaining about the unfair competition from a machine.  I don't know if she is an AI or an actor kitted up for CGI like in this picture of Benedict Cumberbatch as a hobbit

If she is pure AI then it's a brilliant standard of progress in that technology. To reach the point where the fans would prefer her over a human. Of course the downside of that is also pretty obvious in terms of social interaction.

That's right. Combine that with those artificial Chinese TV anchors who look about 98% real and porn actors are suddenly completely unnecessary - most actors, in fact.

Perhaps the most disturbing aspect here is that Melody has only been on that site for about a week and she's already ranked #1. Now that might say a lot about the other "performers" or it might say a lot about the audience. Is this the answer for Incels? What if it spread beyond incels and became a chosen option for people who really have IRL options?

That’s an interesting point.

Do they have to make them look like 12 year old girls though. F***ing creepy. I suppose it's bait for the police to find out who the creepy f***ers are that they need to keep an eye on.

I'm no expert on this but it's a particular style influenced by Japanese anime. I'm on a discord server which is mainly artists, weebs, furries and bronies and I find a lot of it difficult to understand.  The cute ones are called chibi, and they're like this:

chibi-cartoon-pictures.jpg

The same artist will then produce an adult version with the same colour scheme and similar outfit and that is the sexual one. Chibi, I think, comes from the Japanese slang for short. I'm too old to have seen the rise of anime and manga in children's TV programmes so I don't grasp it all that well.

The use of this anime art style for porn is called hentai and in hentai there is no question about the age of the participants - let's just say there seems to be a lot of breast fixation.

I find these subcultures pretty odd but overall quite harmless. I can't see too many of these guys ever going on to have a fulfilling relationship with an adult human but, in the meantime, they're only hurting pixels, if they're hurting anything.

How does that compare to using an actual woman for porn?

Perhaps it’s just me but I find this whole thing pretty disturbing. As in, WTF?

I genuinely don’t understand the world ??

I don't know how old you are but, at 65, I find it all pretty weird, but a lot of this started becoming quite mainstream in the early 1980s. The rise of Japanese cartoons on TV led to Westerners becoming fans of the Japanese art styles which have traditionally included pornography. Because Japan was always a very conservative society, the thought of humans doing porn was always unacceptable to them so artists provided the porn. (In India this goes back 2,000 years. Interestingly, India, like Japan, never had any qualms about movies where 100 people were hacked to death but drew the line at men and women holding hands.)

Like so many other things, the internet didn't invent this stuff. It just made it accessible to a wider audience. There are 40-year-olds who grew up on Japanese cartoons then, when others may have discovered Playboy or Penthouse, moved on to Japanese manga porn and adopted te sensibilities of the genre. Japanophiles are called "weebs" or weeaboos". Extreme forms of weebism might include sleeping with a waifu pillow or watching the entire 10-hour loop of "Ayaya" on YT - it's like a 10-second clip from a Japanese TV cartoon with a character saying "Ayaya" looped over and over for 10 hours. This is an Ayaya meme:

and this is a weeb taking his waifu pillow shopping:

This thread shows why, when you say you like Japanese animation, it is a good idea to make it very clear that you mean Studio Ghibli and not schoolgirl tentacle porn.

You have to remember that, even by internet standards, this is very fringe. Although, if you look at the size of this one "dakimakura" shop, I wonder:  https://www.dakimakura.us/collection-version-c-62_63.html

Dakimakura are body pillows. Believe it or not, the first one on that shop page is a battleship called Friedrich der Grosse. (please don't ask how I know but it's from a game called Azur Lane where the girls are all the personification of famous battleships !?@?#?$?#?@) Friedrich is popular with artists:  B87CF93F48A16E6C07D51B13E46295B0894A7C6A

This borders on another style called Mecha where it's people melded with machines. (or something??!?@?#?4)

I've heard it mentioned it was harmless but I'm pretty sure Japanese culture does have a problem with young girls. They have coffee shops where grown men go and get served tea and chat with school aged girls. There's no way there isn't a sexual element to that.

I stopped thinking anything was weird after I found out about clopping. Everything is just mildly weird after that.

(I think I’m happier in this instance to never know)

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

In Japan the Age of Consent is 13. In Austria, Germany, Hungary, Italy and Portugal the age of consent is 14.
