Has been stood down indefinitely by Leeds to give him time to recover from the concussion he got from round one, awful for the lad but the clib have done the right thing and taken the pressure off him so he can hopefully get it sorted as he still isn’t passing the protocols in place to get back to playing, the club ate sending him to a specialist in London who works for RFU for more tests.

 

It’s good the clubs are now putting player welfare first.

Very worrying if he still isn't passing the concussion protocols after this amount of time.

Hopefully seeing the specialist will allow him to have a speedy recovery. He has suffered so many injuries for a young man, such a shame for his career so far.

Apparently the specialist has said he had around 10 cases with union players last year that took 3 months to get back to normal, can’t take any risks with head knocks.

whats really frustrating for Ward is that it’s not on recurring injury the lad seems to have had every possible injury, he’s a give it 100% all the time player as seen when he played in the 2015 grand final after dislocating his shoulder a week earlier but that may be his actual downfall.

He would have racked up a fair few internationals IMO if it wasn’t for the injuries

It is good that his welfare is being put first - absolutely paramount he returns to full health. That said, this is the latest in a long line of setbacks the poor lad has had and I do begin to wonder if we'll ever see him back for any length of time before he retires, probably prematurely. I've defended Ward many times on here when people have said he's shot and i'll continue to do so as long as it's in his and the clubs best interests - the tipping point of when that's no longer the case doesn't seem far off sadly. 

From a team perspective, a few of us eluded to it but it does now seem Greenwood was definitely brought in for this eventually. Still a prop to come.

This is a good point the only saving grace for him I feel. Just incredibly unlucky to have so many different injuries.

Worrying . All the best to him . He’s a good player but just ravaged by injuries to. Most important though is get right and healthy

Bad luck with injuries over the years but he will not have been stood down without good reason.I wish him well on his return.

It seems that if he didn’t have bad luck then he wouldn’t have any luck.

Heartsbreaking news he's such a wholehearted talented player. He's had such terrible luck with injuries and he had  SL ring stolen .come on Stevie we're all behind you

Totally agree, regarding his own injuries having had so many, it would be easy to throw the towel in, but he just gets on with it. Let's hope he makes a full recovery and returns soon.

I will echo all the others, good luck to him, I hope he overcomes this setback as with all the others he has faced.

It shows how sensible we are being about head injuries now and credit to the protocols that have been put into place that it isn't just about the game he was concussed in but also the return to action protocols. 

Back in the day he would have stayed on the pitch and back out the next game. Our sport is better for looking after its players and it is no less tough or gladiatorial for it.
