fevnut’s musings:  17 Heroes, Halfback Conundrum, and Injury Update (needed)

In the latest edition of fevnut’s musings we write about that great win in London (what a contrast to the Barrow match!) but the main item in the article is about what we call our ‘Halfback Conundrum’.

We also request more information about injuries and pass on information about a Leeds player who played a couple of games for Fev last year and has now retired at the age of 19!

Access ‘musings’ by clicking on the link below and don't forget to use the links on the right hand side of the page to open other interesting pages.

Very good article again but one thing

McLelland but the fact is that he won’t be available all the time. He won’t figure for us in the Challenge Cup and critically he might not be available when we get to the Championship run-in and the play-offs.

he played in play offs last term and we had 3 DR for grand final so if available can't see any problem with it this year

I did say "he might not be available" not that he wouldn't. He is progressing so well and in July or August Leeds would have to agree to releasing him to Fev for the rest of the season. One can see several scenarios where they might not want to do that.

Unless the rules have changed since last year, that's not necessarily true. Last year as long as you had played at least four games on DR you could still move back and forth between parent and DR club all the way through to the end of the season.

As I've said on here before the plan from well before the start of the season always seemed to be to continue the partnership between Chisholm and McLelland that worked so well last season, but also to have a capable 3rd half back in Jouffret to cover the Challenge Cup & 1895 Cup and also for any injuries or suspensions to Chisholm or McLelland, plus any Leeds 1st team call-ups McLelland may receive. Jouffret is probably also first in line to back up Hall if he gets injured too, am sure he will get plenty of game time over the season.

We have paid the price for not having a decent 3rd half back in recent seasons - the London home game 2 years ago when Wildie was suspended and we played with only one half back (Thackeray) comes to mind.

The 'back and forth' clause appears to still apply:

C1:2:7 Subject to the other provisions of this Operational Rule, once a Player has played for any Club in any Competition (other than the Reserves League  or Academy U18 Competition) after the End of Season Cut Off Date whether that be the Club with whom he is registered or the Club to which he is on Loan, he shall only be able to play for that Club for the remainder of the Season and shall not be entitled to play for any other Club in any Competition (other than the Reserves League or Academy U18 Competition). For the avoidance of doubt, once a loan has expired or terminated it cannot be reinstated after the End of Season Signing Deadline irrespective of whether the Player has not played for his parent Club or has only played for his U18 Academy team.

The above provision shall not apply to Dual Registered Players who have played 4 or more Matches for their Dual Registered Club (whether on Dual Registration or otherwise) before: the End of Season Cut Off Date, who shall be entitled to continue to play for the Club to which they are registered and the Club to which they are Dual Registered to after the above date.
