Because rugby league should be played in front of fans?

That still doesn't explain why the onus is on Leeds to inconvenience themselves to make that happen.

Catalans were asking Leeds to back-up a trip to Toronto with a game in France. How many clubs would agree to that?

They suggested loads of things apparently, and offered to pay Leeds’ travel too. However you’re right it’s up to Leeds if they’d rather play behind closed doors.

There seems a streak of the nasty in Leeds attitude. Hope their intranginance comes back to bite them on the bum.

Laughable. Leeds didn't want to flip the fixtures. That's a totally reasonable approach to take rather than rush to get a game on at Headingley in the space of four days which would inevitably hit them financially. And flipping them would also mess around the two other clubs who are playing in the double header alongside the Leeds-Catalan game later in the season.

Not to mention we've already had a game rearranged for a midweek and don't want another for as long as possible.

Certainly seems from leeds statement that there is some dispute between leeds and the RFL. Leeds mentioning their disappointment that they had to make the decision, the RFL mentioning possible sanctions

Needs some clarity from the RFL as to why they thought asking a squad who have been in close contact with a symptomatic colleague should travel through barcelona to and from perpignan

Ridiculous if there’s sanctions, what were Leeds expected to do in this situation?

Nearly as nasty as the Wigan tackling technique.

The RFL statement asks players and clubs to "set the right example".

Not boarding a commercial flight, with members of the public on board, knowing that there is a player showing symptoms of a virus and knowing that 30 of his colleagues have been in contact with that player, is by any definition "setting the right example".

Based on that RFL statement, Leeds are following RFL instructions.

I do not think they would have been allowed into Barcelona. As far as I am aware Barcelona has joined Madrid and just this morning where I am in Murcia being placed in lockdown. Local news says no flights allowed into Barcelona,Madrid and later on to be joined by flights into Murcia.
