Super League clubs discussing no relegation

Recommended Posts

It makes sense and allows the gradual move to a 14 team SL.

Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.

Hunter doesn't say that there will be promotion, though. And as scotchy1 says, if a team doesn't get promoted until November this year, they'll be in an even worse position than usual.

If there's no relegation in 2020, I think you'd need to say no relegation in 2021 as well, to give the team going up this year a chance. That would give you 14 teams to start the new TV contract with in 2022.

Moving to a 14 team SL would only be a good idea if Toulouse and London were both promoted. Their presence in Super League could help attract revenue from national corporate sponsors, at both the club and competition levels, and would add to Toronto's impact on the game in this regard, by making rugby league appear less of a northern England boutique pastime. And has been pointed out many times before, having Toulouse in Super League would attract more French fans and French junior players because it would be tapping new geographical pools and also because it would be creating a local derby in southwestern France

Toulouse, with its large number of French players in the squad, would not be taking too many English players out of circulation. London would be taking English players out of circulation, but with a judicious choice of just a few (6?) Antipodeans, it could have a competitive team that would thereby attract more fans and junior players in the south of England.

The correct decision, there is no way the season can be completed in full so no relegation should take place.

Agree. If the Premier League are still dithering on giving Liverpool the title and considering no relegation at the stage they're at in their season, we should be at least going for no relegation. As for promotion, I would leave that for at least another year.

Learn to listen without distortion and learn to look without imagination.

Why will London have such an effect? They can't even attract crowds of a thousand.

In my opinion there should be no relegation from Super League.

There should also be no promotion or relegation at all this season in any of the divisions due to the current unique circumstances.

Now from what I read the money from Sky is only guaranteed until June,so if the Government decide to still ban sporting events what the hell will happen then?
