Forgot about armitstead. What a player!

Think Luisi was a more skilful player but Armi played with more heart and never seemed to have a bad game.

Just remembered, Anthony Singleton.. Came from Manly to play for Widnes at first.

Anthony came to Barrow first then went to Widnes, great player, came as a fullback but played a lot of the season at 13

Phil is too modest to say but he made his first team debut the same day as Anthony Singleton made his  in an away fixture at Doncaster in September 1993. Singer played just the one season at Barrow but made a huge impact and scored a really memorable try at Whitehaven, where he beat man after man, late in the season. He moved to Widnes at the start of the following season and surprisingly never really found his form there. He came to Barrow with a big winger called John McMurtry who was a really pleasant lad but returned to Australia early because a job opportunity arose there, does anyone remember him???

That try is probably the best individual try scored by a Barrow player iv seen in nearly 40 years, Khamal Ganleys 100m effort is a close 2nd

Lets start with the ones I can't leave out

1) Steve Tickle - maybe the finest full back Barow's ever had

3) Ian Ball - best attacking centre I've seen and great kicker

5) Chris Camilleri - don't know why it all went wrong but GB Internaional - in the Frank Castle league

7) David Cairns - great #### half - just ask Andy Gregory after he was outplayed in Lancs Cup Final

10) Malcolm Flynn - Hardest tackler I've seen

11) Eddie - Legend, haven't space to say how good he was

13) Derek Hadley - probably best loose forward Barrow has ever had.

Now a team

1) Steve Tickle

2) Les Quirk

3) Ian Ball

4) Andy Whittle

5) Chris Camilleri

6) Mel Mason

7) David Cairns

? Dave Chisnall

9) Andy Ellis

10) Malcolm Flynn

11) Eddie Szymala

12) Ned Catic

13) Derek Hadley

14) Joe Bullock

15) John Mantle

16) Mark Meskell

17) Cavill Heugh

Not sure about some Australian legends like Rod Reddy, Kevin Hastings - two of the best all time players but ready for retirement when they came to Barrow.

I've seen Tom Brophy, Bill Burgess, Frank Foster and Keith Jarrett play but I was only 8 at the time and my main memory is the pie my Dad  bought me to keep me quiet

That was the most interesting message I've ever read on this Forum. What players we've had over the years. I guess nobody's old enough to include some of the players from the great 50s side or even the Wembley side of 1967
