Very happy times at Hornets watching the Fijian players, they were like a breath of fresh air and were a joy to watch. They were well loved in the town and helped put Hornets on the map.

RIP Voate

RUGBY LEAGUE WITHOUT ROCHDALE HORNETS IS LIKE AN UNSHARPENED PENCIL, THERES NO POINT?

Driu played his first game for Hornets at Prop forward at York march 9, 1963 in a 13-5 loss. and his final game in the opening game of the season, again at York on Aug 6, 1966 when he scored his only try for the club. in a 18-7 defeat. Played 49 games plus another 7 substitute appearances. 15 of his games were at hooker.

Orisi Dawai and Joe Levula had arrived in Rochdale in October 1961  driu and Laitia Ravouvou joined the club the following February. . . that must have been a shock to the system, from Fiji to Rochdale in February.

In programme line ups he was always listed as Drui but in the Centenary Booklet the spelling was Driu. Can anyone provide confirmation which it was?

Following the four named above, Apasai Toga and  Mike Ratu  followed (then John Kucuve in the 1970s). All were a delight to watch.
