If as Wiganermike says York haven't won either (relying on memory) then put Dewsbury in, they definitely won the Championship in 1973 - Stevo played for them.  I think Bulls and Widnes's glory days are a bit too recent to qualify ?

Featherstone won the Cup the week before Dewsbury beat Leeds in the Championship Final. Then the following season, Dewsbury played Featherstone in the first League game and it was televised by Grandstand.

I was there when Fev won the cup in 1973. screaming at Mike Smith to pass, wrong again!

In my ideal world SL would be a UK only League (regardless of whether rugby league is currently played there not - pure fantasy stuff and disregarding history of clubs etc..);

Belfast

Dublin

Cornwall

Coventry

Cumbria

Edinburgh

Glasgow

Isle of Man

Leeds

London

Manchester

Newcastle

North Wales

South Wales

Southampton

Leigh, the last all British team to win Championship

Featherstone won the Cup in 83 with all local lads, 9 from Featherstone, 2 from Pontefract, 2 from Castleford, 1 from Wakefield, and a Featherstone born Coach, Allan Agar. Except one player wasn't local, Steve Quinn who came all the way from York!

Magic weekend format:

1st vs 2nd play 40 minutes. Winner stays on. Loser is replaced by the next team down in the league. Repeat until 12th plays 40 minutes, winner of the event gets an automatic grand final berth

the other 11 teams play 10 home and 10 away games. The top 2 teams play a semi final, where the first team to 100 points gets a finals berth. After 20 minutes there will be a 5 minute break for adverts which are priced at 10 million rupees/30 seconds.

The grand final is played on Superbowl Sunday at 6.30pm ET, at the nearest USARL ground to the venue of the Superbowl. For example, for the next Superbowl that would be Tampa Catholic High School. The game will take place behind closed doors and will be streamed worldwide on UFC Fight pass. The half time show will be performed by that blonde Swift bint. If the game is tied after 80 minutes, the game will be decided by a game of Queen of the Nile streamed live on zoom. The man of the match is awarded the Gary Speed Shield and the losing captain will be hung from the goalposts, which will not be streamed (we are not barbaric).

The TV rights will be split 50/50 between player contracts and paying for Super Bowl advertising to get people to switch over to the grand final. The winners will play a world club challenge game against the winners of the Digicel Cup in Port Moresby.

Let me guess, the French and North American teams playing in a different conference (10 being enough to subdivide them into two divisions) from the English teams would mean that the former would have the burden and cost of almost all the transatlantic travel while the latter would be privileged and get off lightly so it wouldn't be a level playing field.

Which prospective investors over here do you seriously think would ever want to be bothered with such an obviously biased arrangement?
