Not another God knows how many pages of going round in circles... They're breaking away! What from? Ad nauseum...

Not operating within agreed structures and endorsed by relevant governing bodies.

There is no European club structure to break away from. Other than in the UK and France there are just a handful of tiny leagues running independently of each other.

In light of the comment above we'll have to agree to disagree on this but I think the RLEF statement is pretty clear.

In other news....

Confirmed as a breakaway competition

Of course it's financially viable. It announced a commercial partner with assets of £5.50 only last week.

What more do they need? Actual details?

Why do Euro XIIIs need to pander the RLEF though? The latter are three blokes in a garage somewhere, who for whatever reason (lack of finance probably) have offered little to no help to clubs and federations trying to start up across Europe, and are decades away from any sort of European league. It’s like the Isthmian League expecting the Premier League to ask them what they can’t / do because they were there first.

The RLEF do not appear to carry much weight but for the XIIIs people to send out a message that they are a bonafide organisation would help.

They're three blokes who'd like you to think they've got some amazing things in their garage but can't show you just yet.

It's 'private investment'. Why would anyone want to know where the money is coming from? How dare the RLEF ask such outrageous questions!

And supposedly "government funding", both are questionable.

The former are 3 blokes in a garage built on sand, without a roof, but with a fancy sign on the front.

The latter are 3 blokes in a fully functioning garage, with heating and electricity

Eddie, you normally post sensible stuff, but every aspect of this is utterly, utterly 100% wrong and I'm really surprised at you posting it.

It would take you a couple of minutes on google to find out who the RLEF are, the EU funding they've tapped into, the number of governing bodies they've helped to set up, attain government recognition, insurance etc. plus all the coaching and refereeing courses etc. that they arrange. One of the "blokes in a garage" - Colin Klyweg has been funding Red Star Belgrade and has been a prime mover in the Serbian & Balkan leagues, another, Romeo Monteith has been a driving force getting Jamaica RL up and running.

I can't help thinking, that you fella's are labouring under a mis-understanding.

Of course, the RLEF won't ''endorse'' the tournament without details of their financial backing.

How can an honest man vouch for someone he knows nothing about?

They are taking the reasonable man approach. Would you write a reference for someone you don't know?

Nor will they offer assistance, in case they are tainted by association with a failure or worse, a fraud. They're erring on the safe side.

That doesn't mean though, that the concept or the plan is dubious or flawed or inadequate, all it means is they just don't know.

As I remember, the Euro XIII people haven't asked them for help, have they? So nothing's changed.

I'm interested to know if you believe the RLEF have anything to do with individual nations starting out.

I am currently involved with doing just that in a few different nations (under RLEF jurisdiction) and there isn't anything in the way of really any help. I guess they would offer advice if they had any to give in our situation.

I'd imagine it would be emails. But essentially this confirms the suspicion that insurance could be a problem

Or does it just mean that they don’t want anybody else organising progressive competitions?

Doubt it. English teams have entered and played games/tournaments abroad such as the Rotterdam 9s and Fev playing in Valencia.

This hasn't been sanctioned by the RLEF and this is the logical outcome.

They're not saying clubs cannot play, just that their insurance is not liable.
