I’ll sit down and watch any rugby league game that’s on but I couldn’t do that with football. Who wants to watch Watford v Bournemouth?

Er...tough question..hmm  how about Watford and Bournemouth fans.

Don't you mean you know nothing about football because you're an Everton fan ?

I believe that's what I said.

I watch it a lot less than I used to . I’ll watch Everton when they’re on and that’s painful enough . And some England games .I don’t watch european comps or other leagues , zero interest there .  I absolutely love the WC and The Euros though , I get into the whole thing .. build up , hype , all the games . Really miss the Euros the year

Of the five types of football in the world — soccer, Gaelic football, Australian football, RU and RL (I exclude brain damage ball AKA gridiron as it isn't based on playing the ball with the foot which is the origin of the word football) — for me soccer and RU are about equal as the most boring to watch.  It's a tossup as to which is more boring, both have their moments where that is concerned!

I'm a season ticket holder for Toronto FC, but don't like the sport much. I would very rarely watch a game on TV.

I go because my son likes it, we go with some other good friends, and there is a fun atmosphere. I'm sure I'm not alone. Maybe RL should appeal more to the casual fan, their money is as good as that of die hard supporters. At the end of the day, it is all about entertainment, that can take different forms for different people.

I watch match of the day if there's nothing else on and watch England internationals but don't go out of my way to seek football out. I've been to a few football games over the years if mates have got a ticket going but haven't ever been out and bought a ticket for myself. My second sport is snooker, love snooker about the same level as RL.

Big Manchester United Supporter all my life.

Had Season Tickets for Old Trafford, last one was Sir Alex last season in charge, attended plenty of matches since then but none in last 3 years. Gone off Football totally in the last 3 years. Not even watched United or any football on telly for last 2 seasons.

I believe the term football is because you are playing a team sport on foot which involves a ball, as opposed to a mounted sport with players on horseback.

What would you do if Ancelotti gets Everton into Europe? A distinct possibility.

Which would imply that handball is also a kind of football...

I do like my football and was a season ticket holder at York City for a while and I still sometimes go, but they've been so wretched for so long that it's really sucked the enjoyment out of it. I mean, you generally don't expect City to be very good, but the last few seasons have been ridiculous. I get much more enjoyment out of RL these days.

Faint , then after that hope  we don’t get anyone half decent in the preliminary round . If they get into the group stage I’ll be watching . In terms  of Europe I still think  of Collina shafting us on the verge of getting into the champions league.

Like East London Mike, was a regular at the mighty Irons(home and away) for many years and had some great times, but prob lose more interest with every season...couldnt care less about the Premier League and its "Super Sundays"(which usualy end up being anything but) and its "Magic Mondays" etc and have pretty much zero interest in watching other Prem games if it dosent involve the Hammers. Money has ruined it IMHO and can honestly say i havent missed it since it stopped. Saying that, like the East End footy whore that I am, I,ll be firing up a stream when it restarts and effing and jeffing along with the best of em ? Funnily enough, although I might agree with some comments about my team that someone might make, I,ll still argue the toss with em and wont have it...not that it has ever happened on Holiday(for instance)...honest ?  Enjoy watching the Spanish footy and as for internationals...enjoy the world cup etc, but not all the England England hype if im honest.

In that case you'd have to include all the team sports which are played on foot involving a ball, i.e. handball, basketball, hockey, lacrosse, cricket, baseball, bandy and hurling at a minimum and that would be silly.

Really it's just that all the sports we call football were descended from various school games called football, regardless of the specific rules.

And those games seems to be called football due to even more generic Mob football games, that probably was due to being peasants on foot be lords on horseback, but I don't think that's particularly relevant today.

Since other did a ranking I'll include mine.

1. Rugby Union.  Love playing,  love watching.

2. CFL. Die hard Ticats fan, live in sight of the stadium.

3. Rugby League.

4. NFL.

5. Aussie / Gaelic

Used to really be into in the 90's and early 2000's, find it very sterile now. Will keep an eye on results and watch MOTD every so often and if I ever watch a live game on tv I find myself looking at my phone instead. Very different to RL where I'm a season ticket holder. Where I can I will watch any game on TV and it keeps my interest throughout.

I’m a member of the Dons Trust, which makes me a part-owner of AFC Wimbledon. They are my sole interest in football, I don’t watch any football on TV bar England games.

Come to think of it, my interest in all other sports bar RL has waned considerably over the years.

That’s the ‘trouble’ with rugby league, it ‘ruins’ other sports because it is so damn good to watch.

And the NRL games this weekend have possibly taken rugby league to a new level of sublimity.
