So you demure in favour of a minority interest   to take over  Salford's Stadium?

Whose side are you on ?

Leigh of course know how it works. Can't wait for your stadium priority's when it's all lifted

The good news for Leigh is that it’s built at zero cost, and soon we will be out of Wigan council - Leyth Bent n Bongs is arising

Good grief, this again. It is such a short time since we had this thread.

Mr Whittaker is good for a few quid. He bought the land along the ship canal when no one else had his vision. He intends to build Port Salford by the stadium, and has sold off parcels of land for other developments such as the Aldi that now sits in front of the stadium. There is talk of a huge warehouse on the site.

Trafford Centre problems has as much to do this  as Lakeside. Peel will do a prepack purchase at a fraction of the money they sold it for.

Neither Salford or Sale can afford to run the stadium if they have to buy out the debts.

As for housing have any of you walked through the Brookhouse Estate? plenty of people live there . I live within 25 mins walking of the stadium and plenty of houses near me. The tram now runs to the Trafford centre and therefore within 20 min walk.

RW some these people(stirrers) on here have obviously never been to the AJ Bell and cannot do a simple check on the geography about the City of Salford.

They also appear clueless on matters of who owns what, we live in Walkden, which is in also Salford as is the Stadium and it is as easy for me to get to the AJ Bell than it was to get to the Willows and anyone who says that there is a lack of housing etc near the stadium is in cloud cuckoo land.

There are literally no houses to the west or south of the stadium, only a small number to the north and the ones to the east are a fair walk away. Not exactly Weaste, is it?

The OP has a history of scaremongering and stirring things up regarding Red Devil’s and their stadium so I wouldn’t worry too much

Love to see that history for you to enlighten us all

Thought not

Apologies if it’s a case of mistaken identity............we’ve had that many of these threads started about Salford and their stadium, it can be hard to keep track. Salford are in no more a vulnerable position than Wigan or Hull FC, in fact they’re probably in a stronger one

Nobody is saying that it is similar to Weaste and the Willows are they?

Some people are saying that there are no housing developments near by whereas there are, Peel Green, Winton, Irlam, Cadishead,Eccles,Urmston etc.

When you go clockwise on the M60 over Thelwall viaduct you have the sewerage works on one side and the wasteland on which stands , alone , the stadium on the other.

There is no doubt that that land is extremely valuable given it's location and the growth of inner Greater Manchester as a regional if not world powerhouse.

But at the moment it's still fairly desperate. The sooner it gets developed the better.

That said memories of the Willows , especially the nightclub , where the doormen also had to patrol the car park opposite, are still to be cherished.....

But, other than the area of Eccles close to the motorway near the RL club, none of those areas are near enough to attract walk up fans in the same way as was the case at the Willows and indeed virtually every other pro RL club. I’m happy to be wrong on this one but I’d say a lot of the areas you mention aren’t necessarily areas where Salford have traditionally drawn much support. That’s not to say they never will, but it’s undeniable that the stadium move was well away from the previous territory and in a lot of ways was like starting in an entirely new location.

Clearly your geography is not your strong point as the Thelwall viaduct is no where near to the AJ Bell or you have a dodgy GPS system.

Quite right. Got the name of the bridge wrong!!! Use both of them regularly.??

Don't use GPS either - technologically useless - just maps when I need to  ?

According to the last census almost 39,000 people live in Eccles. Almost all of it within walking distance. We have to face the reality that RL is not top of the list for many people even in the stronghold with no other professional sport.

No professional sport? Haven't you got Sale RU (same distance), Salford FC (closer?), Manchester United and Lancashire CC (both little further away) all within either walking distance or a short drive? That's a lot of sporting competition.

There were a hell of lot of people supporting Salford at the GF, they seemed interested in (successful) RL so there seems to be potential.
