I looked at one of the documents relating to the sale of Wigan A, it showed they had an £18m wage bill in the second division and £10m in the third division. Seems like madness to me. There’s always prepared to lump money into football clubs though, at every level. It always astounds me how otherwise incredibly astute and successful businessmen are so careless with their money when it comes to football, they can’t throw it away fast enough. If half the league goes into administration due to an extraordinary society wide event, then it doesn't matter quite as much as league rules will be adjusted, councils will protect assets from redevelopment (like at Wigan) and teams will reform. The current owners may lose money, but many of the losses will be socialised and the sporting penalties will be waived, or will be so widespread that their relative affect will be much weaker. Sport will go on if there is demand for it, which there is. There's safety in numbers going into administration right now, and the same will apply to rugby league. Maybe not *every* rugby league or football club will be playing in exactly the same competition they are now after it has all shaken out, but the vast majority will be, even if they go into administration. The reality is that them players were not only earning more in a week than i was in a year, but that they was more in a year than i was in a lifetime. Anyway, of all the many reasons to dislike football (ticket prices, fan behaviour, player behaviour, the pundits and commentators etc), I find it strange that so many focus on the earnings of the elite as a way to knock the game and to dislike it when the elite in all industries earn huge (comparative) amounts. It’s a completely different topic now and I’m not accusing anyone here but the attitude some Rugby League fans have around Football is embarrassing.
