Fri 3 Jul: NRL: Canberra Raiders v St George Illawarra Dragons (Sky Sports)

Only 6 points in but I thought Dragons were largely awful again for much of that . I’d be more concerned if I was Ricky . In a position to put the foot on the throat there but didn’t . Still look a bit wonky . Nice try and assist from Williams though , nice and lively and craving more involvement this week . Really getting into it there now . Sutton a strong stint and Whitehead still outstanding on one peg

They only sold 1500 tickets for this match.

They also must have 2 empty seats between people with the only exception being children under 12 who can sit next to a parent.

How come they didn’t sell more? Are restrictions tighter in ACT?

Whitehead was best player on the pitch, regardless of what the stats say. You could see his level of importance when he went off and they leaked tries down his side.

St George are a mixture of individuals, who don’t play as a cohesive unit. They’ve got some talent though

As you know, I like to look at the stats but if there is one player you cannot measure on stats it is Whitehead.  Everything he does just has that bit of extra effort involved. His cover of a break and kick though back on his own line today was a typical example.

I bet his teammates absolutely love playing with him.

Canberra still misfiring this season. Ricky's Raiders with a bit more composure would have finished off SGI before the half but SGI recovery in the second half probably means the St George Illawarra (SGI) board cab put off the evil day when they have to sack Paul McGregor which is going to damn SGI in the 2021 season as well as this season.

It's a plot by all the other NRL clubs to make sure SGI limp on with Mary's dead hand on the tiller for the rest of the season. :kolobok_wink:

That's just the thing though his hand is not on the tiller so to speak It's a three man selection committee with Shane Flanagan and Dean Young. Seen by some as a way of forcing him to resign rather than be sacked and save on not paying up the rest of his contract

Good luck with recruitment for 2021 - Because the first thing a plauyer wants to know is who am I playing for ?

With Mary at St George and Madge at Wests, will we look back at this as a golden era of coaches with girls names being in charge of NRL clubs?
