Some top work there. I think when Nu Brown was announced it seemed to be applied that he would only be coming this year if there was a meaningful Championship. Whether or not the door to next year is closed or not, who knows. TotalRL/League Express were reporting that Jouffret is off to Ottawa so we might need a replacement half back.

Of course, if our bid to enter SL is accepted then presumably Brown will be over on the first plane, though I'm not holding my breath...

If and it is a massive IF probably only 10% to 15% chance the logical replacement for Toronto would be London, relegated last year but only just.Or Fev as beaten finalist by Toronto last season.Dont see how Leigh can claim a place over those two.

Yes, not sure on the whole Nu Brown thing. Bringing him over for a end-of-season mini comp doesn't seem worthwhile.

We may yet see more twists in this tale.

If Toronto are gone, rather than on sabbatical, then an 11 team SL may need a new face for 2021 after all, our centenary year.

Perhaps this end of year kickabout might get really serious.......

Was it his choice or did we not offer him a new  a new contract?

Dunno, but they have a French coach, it's a bilingual city with a continental climate, and presumably they won't be short of a bob or two to offer players, so it might not have mattered if we offered him a contract or not. You do wonder about the UK player drain, especially on the Championship, with another North American club arriving.

So just based on those players we know are under contract for 2020,  we could have a 17 of something like:
1 Craig Hall
2 Ben Blackmore
3 Josh Hardcastle
4 Thomas Minns
5 Gareth Gale
6 Nu Brown
7 Dane Chisholm
8 Dale Ferguson
9 Dean Parata
10 James Harrison
11 Brad Day
12 Brett Ferres
13 James Lockwood
subs:
14 John Davies
15 Luke Cooper
16 Jack Bussey
17 Jake Sweeting

add to that Jimmy Beckett, Liam Whitton and Louie McConnell, plus the ones we don't yet know about such as Susino, Carey, and the loanees Wellington Albert and Greg Worthington, and we're not looking in bad shape considering it's only August. You read everywhere on other team's forums that Fev are dependent on DR but we'd only need 2 or 3 more names to add to that squad really even without DR , I don't think many teams will be running with massive squads next year.

Kris welham going to fev according to twitter and Worthington going to fax

The likely Welham switch was mentioned in League Express a while ago but I doubt there will be any announcements until Salford's season is over, and I think that's the right approach.

Worthington would be a good signing for Fax, he's a very solid player and has always been a fan favourite, but with Hardcastle, Minns and Welham we'd already have 3 centres. Started off at Queensbury and Fax or Bradford would have been the most logical destination for him.

That is starting to look like an impressive squad already. Kris Welham would be a fine signing, he's been doing it at the highest level for a very long time now. With Welham and Minns in the centers and Hardcastle coming off the bench to support the centers and the back row,  that looks like a winner. We talk about 'middles' these days rather than specialist forwards, but I would still like to see some 'enforcers' employed. Players such as Alex Walmsley and David Fafita still are playing in Super league to add weight the middle. I would guess that Nu Brown has played with many huge Samoan, or 'other nationalities' determined to prove a point and perhaps his suggestions would be helpful. 1 to 7 looks sorted, we have an embarrassment of riches in the back row, but we are playing too many back rowers at prop.

There's a shortage of these middles/props even at SL level so it's not surprising that's even more the case at Championship level. For instance I would have been underwhelmed if we had signed Dan Fleming from Fax as to me he's bang average but he has just signed for Cas! Ormondroyd is with a SL club, so is Mitch Clark, Kyle Trout is at Hull KR, Colton Roche got a year at Huddersfield, none of those guys were exactly dominant at our level.

It's true that we lack the bulky, old-fashioned type of prop but there are plenty who think those guys will struggle with the "new set of six" rules, it's true that Walmsley and Graham absolutely rolled Leeds the other night but those two are genuine international class. We have signed one or two veteran "enforcers" in recent years such as Griffin and Moore but I'm not sure they really stood out compared with our other middles. James Lockwood might not have the same bulk as that pair but I'd take him every time.

Not sure if we can get either Susino or Albert back for next year but I think we'd be set if we did.

I understand the point that you are making but I do not think that the players you have suggested would make a significant difference in terms of our future. The input of the 'South sea islanders' is been shaped in the NRL. Players such as Jason Taumalolo, so dominant. Their physicality is something that could make us a superior team next season. I do think there is a pool of players not far behind, which could change our season.
