Hate to say it, but in the limited action we saw before Covid shut everything down he gave me the impression of being a guy who had spent too long away from the sport and was getting to be a little too old to be able to recapture his past glories. And that’s a huge step up . Recapturing years gone by is a big ask . Gubrats got it spot on, too many years in union, coming back to League after so much time away from the game is tough on the body. It seems that he may be returning to the NRL after being offered a short term contract by the Roosters. It would appear that Trent Robinson sees something in him that this forum doesn't. He put in a decent shift in defence but didn't seem to want to put up his hand and do the hard yards with the ball. For a player that was probably the biggest and most intimidating player on the pitch, it was disappointing. He seemed to want to be a 17st half back. What we don't know is how much of that is instruction/game plan and how much is a lack of desire. I hope the former as I would expect the best (not to mention highest paid) player to try his guts out. Maybe if he joins the NRL we will see a different approach taken.
