Dickie Lockwood

Recommended Posts

Interesting article. Slight irony is I was expecting an article about Dick Greenwood,( not Lockwood), the former England RU international who did a lot of good work coaching RL in North Wales and is now a patron of Wales RL.It reads as if the  Dickie Lockwood incident was one of the pivotal factors in the split of 1895.

Dickie Lockwood!

Given what we know about the innate snobbery of the RFU, 'Little Dick, the World's Wonder' must have been a stupendous player to have captained the England XV in the Victorian era.

Bit surprised to read that the game had 13 players a side from 1895 but - hey - I liked the general thrust of the article.
