No you need to stop the pathetic tactic of trying to guilt shame people just because your unable to debate the topic at hand.

I can easily debate it. In a debate you aren’t able to control all sides of it... and I guess that’s frustrating for some.

BLM as an organisation is for Marxists and those too foolish to see they have been duped. #blacklivesmatter is a worthy cause, but never *BlackLivesMatter.

Great, well let's stop pretending anyone is out there because of the organisation then.

Indeed. People are saying we are nothing like the USA, but it is them bringing those arguments up.

These protests here haven't been about campaigning for the end of death penalty, or for releasing prisoners or defunding the police.

But if people stopped to listen for a second, they'd hear that the way 'defund the police' translates here is around funding community initiatives to support young people and people in poverty which is a massive root cause of criminal activity - rather than just believing the police can sort it all. Early-intervention is being called for. Hardly controversial.

If anyone went to a UK BLM protest, they will know they were often a broad spectrum of groups, movements, beliefs. BLM is just an umbrella term.

No.  It's all the same.  Equality of opportunity is what should be same for all.  Sadly some in our society choose to ignore the opportunities that are put in their way

This idea that black lives matters is founded on death and injury by some American police officers.  Our police are not armed and are not gratuitously shooting black people.   Far from it. Instead, black youths are killing other black youths.  It is tragic.   This has been going on for several years now and something that bleedin heart liberals just wash their hands of.    So this campaign is just a political smokescreen.

Its not that people ignore the opportunities put in front of them but that they do not believe that there is any point in going to get it.. for example i know i am not going to get a job in certain fields so i dont apply, its pointless.

Whether they are right or not is of course part of the debate but so is the fact that they still feel like this even when there is legislation in place to stop it happening. To an extent its a more important issue because it shows that society isnt moving forward. Laws and rules are only as good as their enforcement.. and the belief is that nothing has changed, and they are probably right.

It is the exact debate from football around BAME managers. Why arent there the managers, are they applying, do they thing they will get a fair chance etc, In the NFL the Rooney rule was to try and help that attitude, you will get the chance to have your say and get interviewed and it has made a difference there for the amount that now see it as a viable opportunity.

Universities are looking at this all the time.. they have disproportionately more white people than BAME applying.. They dont just sit there and say "well anyone can apply" they are looking at why are they not applying, what are we doing to make ourselves attractive to them to apply and so on...

people have to realise that yes the opportunities are there, these people do know they are there but there are reasons they are not trying to take those opportunities, what are those reasons, why are they not going for them and how can we encourage it... that is part of what this is all about.

I’d love to let the discussion go on the rugby players taking the knee and whether it’s right to do so in the context of rugby, but you lot just refuse to follow the rules and keep on the topic of rugby on this subject

This is a rugby forum, not a politics one.
