Thats true as well. All the Leeds United fans I've spoken to are very happy we got Leeds shirts before they slapped a black JD sports sticker on the shoulder.

The black sticker doesn't look great, but I bet they have paid a fair wedge to have it on!

Aye, tbf on the replica shirts in the shop its nowhere near as big and prominent as it seems to be on the players edition, but I'm still glad mine doesn't have it!

I don’t think Saints are regressing either, but Wigan certainly seem to be (if their alarming reduction in attendances is owt to go by) as well as Hull to some extent. So basically 3 of the big 5. It’s a worry.

Yeah Saints are doing some good stuff but Warrington are the club to emulate IMO. Wigan and Leeds seem to have got lazy with they’re own success. Hull have loads of potential and it frustrates me that they can’t seem to unlock it

It’s strange. I think the new stadium is great (would prefer the south stand to be all stand but hey ho) but it’s one of the few positive off field changes that have happened over the last few years. It’s everything from no trophy parades to a kit manufacturer no one has heard. Like there is no ambition anymore after a period of success.

The only club I see doing anything interesting and exciting is Warrington

I feel exactly the same and the lack of ambition is frustrating really. I thought the stadium rebuild forced the club to take its eye off the ball but I'm starting to think its more than that.

As an LUFC fan myself, getting a big brand on board like Adidas appeals more to the masses. Even without promotion, LUFC sales of Adidas merchandise would have been massive. There has been some manufacturers of small stature in RL for years now, it would be good to see the big kit manufacturers involved like they used to be. At Featherstone we used to have Umbro, a long time ago granted, but quality kit.

And if LU get relegated, where do the jumpers go then. Oxfam?

Not that I am bothered if they get relegated or not, but 3 teams get stuffed for their kit sales every year.

300,000 sales in 2 weeks...?  Are people buying for their extended family, and the dog?   Well that will help the deficit.  Some people have more money than sense.  And clearly there is money around.

What is it with leeds and really long kit deals?

On the plus side if this sort of deal secures Oxen's future it may allow them to get all the bits that they are criticised for sorted..

That might be true but we're not a charity, how can a club sign up to a 10 year deal with a company fans are clearly unhappy with and is far from guaranteed to be a success??

Well there it is.....*sigh*

I'll reserve judgement on the design/quality of the jerseys until they're actually produced, obviously. The most concerning thing in that statement for me is there's no talk of a 'record deal' in fact quite the opposite - they mention 'challenging financial times' which considering it's a 10 year deal has me hoping Leeds haven't sold themselves short here.

Absolutely, this stinks of being yet another done on the cheap move for the masses.

Leeds have generally preferred long-term sponsorship deals. Equally, unlike at some clubs, the sponsors also seem happy to stick around so clearly they see some value.

My guess here is that, if it is anything like the ISC deal, Leeds have effectively tried to de-risk the merchandising side of the business. Elite Pro Sports gets the keys to the club shop for the next ten years, Leeds get contractual rent payments for a decade and it's up to EPS / Oxen to come up with stuff that the fans want to buy.

And if they don't?

EPS / Oxen bears the biggest cost. It puts the emphasis on EPS, a company that presumably knows a fair bit about sports apparell given that it's their business, to get it right rather than the club. They're paying fees to the club for access to a captive audience - it's on them to come up with stuff that at least covers those fees.

I'm also guessing here, but I'd be suprised if there wasn't some sort of break clause if certain KPIs aren't met.

You'd hope so but I saw the stuff they did for Carnegie last season and the stuff they've made for us this year already...

Maybe, but as I say, this derisks the retail operation for the club. And given the state of retail at the moment, it's probably not a bad decision.

It derisks it somewhat financially (presumably this is still worth something to the club still) but not reputationally. Its the club that suffers when supporters get delivered the wrong size shirts or totally different teams stuff or kit that looks and feels rubbish.

True, but that can happen with any supplier.

At the end of the day, we still don't know how long this ****storm will continue for. The club is already forecasting a £4m shortfall over the next two years and if the situation worsens beyond those forecasts, it may get to the point where the club needs to have some honest discussions with certain stakeholders. Having a contract for ten years of forecast retail income to show them makes those discussions a hell of a lot easier.

Just to extend on this, and not wanting to sound like a rampant socialist, but the whole attitude of the club management is focussed on the north stand corporate stuff. That stuff is fantastic and rightly so, but for the rest of us we should put up with cheap tat, opera man, alex simmons and a light show.

Where's @Chrispmartha when we need him?! A Rhinos Adidas concept kit (that will definitely never happen) would be phenomenal!

Thankfully I'm too busy with actual real work these days:-)

However I'm more than happy to help Lee who owns Oxen with his designs 😉

Leeds have signed a ten year deal with Oxen, which has gone down like a sandwich with the supporters, however I'll see what they come up with first before writing them off, I hope the off field stuff is good quality

I think this has been lined up for a while to be fair, Covid or not.
