Yeez, I'm emotionally retarded (according to my missus), but that literally brought tears to my eyes.  Rob's about the same age as me, and it seems his two girls are the same as mine - way too close to home I guess.  I can't begin to imagine (or maybe I just don't want to) how hard it is for him, and his family & friends.  Hopefully he continues to get support from the great RL family to live life to the fullest, and continue to watch his kids grow up.

It’s a terrible condition one of the lads at Siddal passed from it a few years ago and yeah it was a hard watch

I was watching BBC Breakfast when this was first aired, I was shocked at the deterioration and then amazed at the positivity, he had guts on the pitch but off it and retired he is showing more courage than ever.

I don't have a lot of time for Sally Nugent but she has followed Rob's story with a great sensitivity and what appears to be genuine affection.

I had the privilege of meeting a young Rob about 15yrs ago, he came to make the presentations to my son's local amateur club, he fitted in well with the U16s. He sat on my table and we shared a drink or two and chewed the fat about all things RL, he was great company, very polite and very respectful, everything I hoped my son would turn in too and as I watched the interview all I could do was shed a tear at everything he said, life is at times an absolute #####.

We still have an autographed ball, it now means much more to us.

Could we have a Steve Prescott/Rob Burrow Man of Steel award?

As a player, with his achievments, Burrow would be more fitting for what the award is intended for. This is the problem with naming things after people. (Not that this matters in the grand scheme of things)

Our family actually saw this being filmed. We holidayed in Flamborough last month and, while having lunch up on the cliffs, saw a few cameramen, then Sally Nugent from the Beeb then...the great man himself!

I didn't want to disturb Rob, but did take the opportunity to catch a quick word with his dad. Just to say how I'd been lucky enough to see his son play (and win!) many times down at The Stoop and just how loved he is in the game. Good thing I had my sunglasses on, or Burrow Sr would have seen that I had more than one tear in my eye...

Anyway. Rob Burrow was a hero on the field, and even more of one now. Nothing but admiration for the man.

Another feature this morning on BBC Breakfast on Rob Burrow and the 3 peaks challenge fundraiser and an interview with Jamie Peacock on his challenge. No interview with Rob and from what Jamie Peacock and Sally Nugent said it sounds like he now has real difficulty talking. Its all so sad.
