Time for a long overdue clear out, methinks.

To be fair it has been in a number of SL & RFL press releases. It is also on both websites and in other places

Chester is not happy. Accusing players.

So, who will he be replaced by?

By anyone with a basic grasp of how to prepare & condition a team for 80 minutes of rugby league! I’m actually starting to feel sorry for the guy as he appears to be totally clueless as to how out of his depth he is.

I’m sure a round of golf with the chief exec will keep him in post for a while longer!

Wakefield have actually played well above themselves the past few years. They've knocked on the door of the playoffs with a squad that should have been fighting to avoid relegation. Chester deserves credit for getting a lot out of some pretty average players. Players who had been deemed not good enough elsewhere got a new lease of life.

They look incredibly poor this year though. You do have to wonder if it's time for a change.

On the face of it you look 100 percent correct. But when you dig deeper you will see that it is not the true picture.

Chester replaced Brian Smith a well respected coach. Smith started to shake up the club in his short tenure and put improved structures in place this made him unpopular and he didn't stay that long. Chester dropped on because he inherited what Smith had started to build. The John Kesr came in to be football director and Chester was able to look good under his guidance. We all knew who was improving the team it was kear and not Chester. Kear went and in came Monaghan. Once more the real influencer was not Chester but again he was happy to ride on the success and ability of others. When Monaghan left, Chester was left with a bunch of chancers from fev to help him out. His ability as a coach then became obvious and the team performance have spiralled rapidly downwards.

When Chester first got the job his media performances were cringeworthy.  He would pick his nose, poke his ear, pick his teeth and then look at his fingers to see what he had dug out. All this while being interviewed. It was obvious from the start he had not got the qualities to be head coach. The guy should realise that, stop blaming others and just accept he needs to move on.

There may be something in that. He has had some very experienced and respected guys working alongside him and it may well be that he has just been along for the ride all this time.

We don't really know what happens behind closed doors though.

I can't imagine that the atmosphere generally around Wakefield is particuarly good at the moment and to be honest, you do have to point the finger at the top-down management for that. There have been a few incidents to suggest all is not well at the club and I don't think you can pin that purely on Chester.

Weren't Wakefield one of the last clubs to agree a post-COVID pay deal, doing so against the backdrop of an unnamed player suggesting industrial action and Carter glibly dismissing the concerns of another who felt compelled to take a second job during lockdown? I also remember Carter making some questionable social media posts on the day of the player's union social media campaign and about people on furlough (despite most of his staff at the time being on the scheme) - I honestly wouldn't blame anyone for not having the motivation to work for someone like that.

Yes, I get that professionalism and certain expectations to "get on with it" comes into it but if at the same time, you're not prepared to show respect to your employees, you have to accept that comes with consequences.

The longer he remains in post the worse we are going to get. We are now heading to where we were with Casper Smith & Webster and fast. Both were replaced with experienced coaches who were able to come in and get a grip of the situation. If we head into next season with Chester in place, we will get relegated!

The problem with Chester is that whilst he’s performed well at times, he’s never been able to instill a defensive steel into any of his sides. If teams don’t have the structure or mindset to defend then they’ll ultimately come unstuck before long
