Massive kudos to the Dutch, who have had to change venues 3 times because of constantly changing covid laws. They have take a big financial hit and have just put out this announcement, please lend a hand if you can:

Due to an unexpected increase in costs due to the amount of changes to this fixture, we have also created a donation page. Any help would massively appreciated. Thank you Rugby League Family.

Not something that should be applauded. Some would argue the Dutch rl acted irresponsibly in playing  while there was a surge in coronavirus.  The fact they had to change venues 3 times should have alerted them to the fact there were concerns.  Sorry guys I know others will disagree but I’m not convinced this does the sport any favours.

I notice other sports such as soccer are playing. Good on them I say.

It takes wisdom to know when a discussion has run its course.

It takes reasonableness to end that discussion.

It’s easy to bury our heads in the sand but look at the numbers

https://www.ecdc.europa.eu/en/cases-2019-ncov-eueea

There is a serious problem in the Netherlands and the numbers are increasing - far higher than when the domestic competition was cancelled

Wherever you play the game, for an international fixture some of your players will have travelled from regions where the incidence is higher

The arguments for continuing professional sport, where there can be regular testing, are different. How many players were tested before this game?

I think we can all agree that there are higher levels of contact in rugby than in many other sports

Agreed, but they have highlighted the issue by asking for donations

You make a valid point, but I don't believe this virus is going away and we'll have to live with it, so i'm comfortable with this decision to go ahead and play. I understand your point of view though.

The fundraiser has amended the reason for the fundraise, wisely in my view, perhaps on the back of criticism such as yours. I have donated, as it's a good cause. I hope you have too
